Higher Oak Farm Higher Oak Farm is a small family run farm offering free range, rare breed and hybrid chickens, hatching eggs and eating eggs for sale in Cheshire.

Here on Higher Oak Farm, we are set back from the summit of the red sandstone escarpment that runs along the southern edge of the Mersey valley. We are between Manchester and Liverpool and only 10 minutes from both the M6 and M56. We welcome newcomers to chicken keeping, and are happy to offer plenty of chicken keeping help and advice. We have hybrid Blackrock chickens for sale as well as Traditional pure breed chickens. We pride ourselves on offering friendly service and advice. Animal welfare is very important to us and all our animals are looked after with great care. All of our chickens are given plenty of room to display their natural behaviour.

The Hi-Oak Brown is a hybrid hen, raised in the same environment as our rare breeds, and is one of the world’s best brown egg layers. She can produce an egg every 36 hours (about 5 a week) and starts laying around 19-20 weeks, with some of the largest pullet eggs we've ever seen! 🥚

🌟 Temperament: Friendly and inquisitive, these birds are a joy to keep. They're fully hardened to the weather in the north of England but are equally happy in a small coop.

Today, we're throwing it all the way back to 2020. The Covid days... Eurgh. But some good things did come from 2020! 🙌

We introduced Higher Oak Bakery (now known as Oaks Artisan) as well as the building of our beloved Shepherd's Hut! 🛠️ Our team worked tirelessly to build the hut from the ground up, and we couldn't be prouder of what we achieved.

Our Rhode Island Red Hatching Eggs are available online: 6 eggs for £19.99!

Rhode Island Reds are known for their inquisitive and friendly nature. They love investigating new things and are often found at the mid to higher levels of the pecking order. Despite this, they are fairly docile with birds of similar disposition.

From our production strain, these hens are prolific layers, producing 5-6 eggs per week – that's around 250-300 eggs per year! Their eggs are medium to large in size and have a lovely light brown colour.

Our hatching eggs are collected daily from our breeding flocks, ensuring they're of good shape, size, and freshness!
