The Coffee Mill - Lynmouth's Garden Café It hasn't changed much since it was a Tea Garden and Luncheon Rooms right at the beginning!

We have a huge range of coffees, teas, matchas, and hot and cold food (including award winning pasties) for you to enjoy in our lovely garden next to the harbour in Lynmouth Lynmouth Garden Café (or The Coffee Mill as it is widely known) has been a place people have visited to take refreshment while enjoying views over the Bristol Channel to Wales since the late 19th century. The gardens and some of the building itself were destroyed in the great flood of 1952 but were rebuilt shortly after in much the same style. The major difference is that the garden wall is no longer the river wall, as the river was moved a little north-east to accommodate Riverside Road. You can still sit in the same garden as your great-great-great grandparents may have sat, taking tea along with a selection of cakes made up the road by the mother of one of our young employees, or a scone with cream and jam. Or perhaps you prefer something savoury - we have a selection of freshly baked pasties made in Cornwall, paninis, hot-dogs, baked potatoes and sandwiches made to order. Our coffee is roasted up the road in Porlock and we are often told how delicious it is. And, of course, we have a selection of ice creams crafted by Marshfield's near Bath, not to mention milk-shakes, sundaes, and various cold drinks.

Back in July I posted a fascinating video explaining that I couldn’t do breakfast in the caff because I was in Bedford with my good friend and spannering maestro Steve, working on my son’s Volvo V70. I possibly mansplained the power steering pump, which many people enjoyed immensely. I do remember I got some stick for putting my son before people’s bacon baps.

Anyway, that was a Saturday and, as I explained in the vid, our son was hoping to take it to Spain on the following Wednesday. All that was needed was a new power steering pump, new A/C compressor and new rear brakes. Oh, and an MoT.

Several people have asked me whether the Volvo (christened Agnes for reasons I can’t explain) made it to Spain.

Well, thankfully she did, although not without considerable stress (shared unequally between our son and me).

She failed her MoT (track rod ends) and to cut a very long and painfully expensive story short, GaragePro Automotive in Barnstaple stepped up to the plate and got her through her MoT with mere nanoseconds to spare before our son had to leave for the ferry.

Agnes is now cruising the not-so-mean streets of Jerez de la Frontera, piloted happily by our son, who has kindly taken a couple of pictures. He reports that she had developed a squeak and that the A/C isn’t working despite the new compressor, although the directed-energy phasers are working well, as you can see from the photo.
