Everyone starts somewhere… even stud males! 🦙😂
This is Vantage’s 2nd mating. As an inexperienced young male, he needs a little supervision to make sure he was aiming for the right place (yes, that’s a real part of alpaca breeding! 🤭) Once he understood what was expected, he did a great job. Confidence comes with experience, and we’re really impressed with how quickly he’s learning!
A fun alpaca fact: unlike many other mammals, female alpacas are induced ovulators, meaning they don’t ovulate on a regular cycle. Instead, ovulation is triggered by mating itself, which includes the orgle you can hear all through the video. Nature is pretty clever!
If this mating is successful, Roulette will be pregnant around 11–12 months before welcoming a cria.
So now… the hardest part begins: waiting nearly a year to see the fluffy little Suri cria! 🤎✨
