Keeping Treatment Plants Operating With Minimal Disruption

My role isn’t simply to install, service or refurbish sewage treatment plants — it’s about understanding the problem, identifying the right engineering solution and helping our customers keep their systems operating efficiently with minimal disruption.

This site is a great example of that approach.

🔧 The issue: Two large air compressors were generating excessive noise, creating an unacceptable working environment around the plant.

🏗️ The solution: Rather than simply replacing the equipment, we looked at the installation as a whole. A new, more robust and purpose-designed kiosk was installed, providing improved acoustic performance while still allowing the compressors to operate correctly with suitable ventilation and access for maintenance.

📊 The result: Noise readings were taken before and after the works, demonstrating a measurable reduction in noise levels and bringing the installation to a much more acceptable operating level.

Every treatment plant has different challenges, and sometimes the solution isn’t simply to replace equipment — it’s about engineering the right solution for the site.

Keeping Systems Performing at Their Best 💧⚙️

A great example of the variety of work our STP team delivers across the UK this week.

🔹 Soakaway jetting & assessment – attended site to jet and clear an existing soakaway system, restoring effective drainage performance. While onsite, we carried out a wider assessment with the customer and discussed options to replace and extend the existing system to provide a more robust long-term solution.

🔹 Large aeration treatment plant service – followed this up with a scheduled service visit for a long-standing returning customer. The treatment plant was thoroughly inspected, serviced and operational checks completed to ensure the aeration process and associated mechanical equipment were performing correctly.

Both systems were left fully operational, with customers satisfied with the work and confident in the next steps for their wastewater systems.

🔧 Side Channel Blower Upgrade & Commissioning – Maidstone

This week we completed the replacement and commissioning of a failed side channel blower on a wastewater treatment system near Maidstone.

Having maintained this installation for a number of years, it was great to return and restore the system to full operational performance with a new OEM replacement unit.

Scope of works:

* ✅ Diagnosed failure of the existing side channel blower/compressor.
* ✅ Supplied and installed a genuine OEM replacement blower.
* ✅ Electrical disconnect, rewiring and termination of the new unit.
* ✅ Mechanical installation, alignment and connection to the existing system.
* ✅ Full functional testing and commissioning.
* ✅ Verified airflow, rotation, operating performance and overall system operation before returning the plant to service.
