Annual Service Completed – GRAF One2Clean Sewage Treatment Plant
This week we carried out the annual service and performance assessment of a GRAF One2Clean sewage treatment plant for a new homeowner. Having originally installed the system several years ago, it was great to revisit the site and provide guidance on system operation, maintenance requirements, and key indicators to monitor between services.
As part of the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule, a full inspection and operational assessment was completed, including:
✅ Visual inspection of all mechanical and electrical components�✅ Air blower performance and airflow checks�✅ Verification of treatment cycles and control functions�✅ Assessment of sludge levels to determine desludging requirements�✅ Dissolved Oxygen (DO) testing to confirm healthy biological treatment conditions�✅ On-site Ammonia testing to assess treatment efficiency and final effluent quality
We’re pleased to report that all test results were within expected operational parameters, confirming the plant is functioning efficiently and providing effective wastewater treatment.
Following the sludge assessment, it was determined that desludging was not required this year, resulting in a cost saving for the customer while maintaining compliance with service recommendations.
Regular servicing is essential to maximise treatment performance, identify potential issues before they become costly repairs, and ensure environmental compliance.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, this DMC belt-driven compressor received its first major scheduled overhaul, ensuring continued reliability and performance for the site.

Work completed:
• Drained and disposed of used compressor oil in accordance with maintenance procedures
• Refilled with the correct manufacturer-specified lubricant
• Replaced air intake filter to maintain optimum airflow and filtration efficiency
• Installed a new drive belt and checked belt alignment and tension settings
• Inspected pulleys, guards, and associated drive components for wear
• Carried out operational testing following reassembly
• Confirmed correct running temperatures, pressures, and overall performance

✅ Genuine manufacturer parts used throughout
✅ Maintenance completed in line with OEM service guidelines
✅ Compressor returned to full operational status with minimal downtime

Major Service Completed on Large HiPAF Aeration Treatment Plant – Berkshire

Today our engineers attended a site in Berkshire to carry out a major planned service on a large HiPAF packaged sewage treatment plant, associated foul water pumping stations, and sludge management systems.

During routine preventative maintenance inspections, signs of deterioration and splitting were identified on the drive belts of one of the site’s three duty air compressors. These compressors are critical to maintaining dissolved oxygen levels within the biological treatment process and ensuring compliance with the site’s environmental discharge consent.

Works Completed

🔧 Full service of the HiPAF aeration treatment plant

🔧 Inspection and servicing of associated foul water pumping stations

🔧 Removal of accumulated sludge from the primary settlement tank via tanker

🔧 Inspection of all compressor drive systems and ancillary equipment

🔧 Identification of damaged drive belts on one air compressor

🔧 Safe isolation of equipment and replacement of worn belts using on-site critical spares

🔧 Testing, commissioning and return to full operational service

A productive trip north this week into the Scottish Borders to meet with clients and consultants regarding several upcoming refurbishment projects for a large sewage treatment plant (STP).

The focus of these discussions was to assess the most effective engineering solutions to ensure the plant continues to operate efficiently, reliably, and within the client’s operational and budgetary requirements. Working collaboratively with consultants and stakeholders allows us to develop practical refurbishment strategies that maximise asset performance while minimising disruption to site operations.

The visit also provided a valuable opportunity to catch up with fellow engineers across the business, share technical knowledge, discuss challenges being encountered on other sites, and identify solutions that can be applied across multiple projects.

After adding a few miles to the van this week, it’s back to the office to review emails, complete site reports, and prepare quotations for several exciting projects currently in development.

Commercial wastewater treatment plant servicing recently completed on a large-scale aeration treatment system operating under stringent discharge consent conditions.

Working closely with the client, we continue to ensure the plant remains compliant and performs efficiently to meet all environmental permit requirements. Routine maintenance includes scheduled tankering operations on the primary settlement tanks, alongside ongoing servicing and monitoring of two foul water pumping stations connected to the site infrastructure.

During this service visit, two of the three duty air compressors were fully inspected, including checks on drive belt condition, alignment, tension, and signs of wear or damage.
