Emeline de Sloovere is a renowned trailblazer in women led and sustainable Champagne production. She was among the first in Champagne to eliminate the metal neck foil, a historic and controversial element in the region, making a small but symbolic mark in Champagne history. JOIN THE TEAM 🫒🌞

We're looking for a PART-TIME, FRONT OF HOUSE SUPERVISOR, to join the team at Sun & Salt

👉The role:
Part time, front of house supervisor
20hrs per week, evenings & weekends.
Opportunity for additional hours through peak trading periods

👉What you'll do:
Oversee daily front of house operations across all sections of the restaurant.
Lead the front of house team by example, ensuring exceptional customer service for all guests, high standards of cleanliness and a welcoming atmosphere.
Work across all areas of the front of house team (Coffee, bar, food service)
Co-ordinate with the kitchen team to deliver an efficient and smooth service on a daily basis.
Train & develop junior team members and suggest operational improvements to further improve service
Run front of house service in the absence of senior management
Handle customer inquiries or complaints in a constructive manor

👉Who we're looking for
You'll ideally be a front of house team leader already, or a key team member in your current establishment looking for a step up
Minimum 1-year hospitality experience, Coffee shop, bar & restaurant experience strongly preferred
Strictly 18+
Passionate about food, drink & great service
Confident leading a team, delegating responsibilities and solving problems
Able to work well under pressure, in a busy restaurant environment

Wednesday 22nd April, 7pm, join us for an evening of drinks, food & cookbook chat from the Sun & Salt team, inspired by MEDesque, the brand new cookbook by the amazing Georgina Hayden

WE WENT TO A LEEK FARM 🚜

Yesterday chefs Jess & Yimie paid a visit to one of our producers, Seddon & Sons, a family run business who have been growing leeks in Lancashire for over 50 years. We wanted to see where this amazing produce comes from and all the hard work and effort that goes into getting the leeks we use from the ground to your plate 🍽️

We met the lovely James Seddon - give him a follow! - who first took us out to see one of their many fields across the Ormskirk countryside and watched leeks being harvested. James’ passion and knowledge for his produce was brilliant, we learnt so much about the humble leek plus the challenges and benefits that come with growing in West Lancashire

We also learnt about the many health benefits, the Mediterranean origins and versatility. Leeks have so much depth of flavour and can be used in so many ways. The UK harvest for leeks is June/July all the way through to May, meaning they’re fresh, plentiful and great value too

Once harvested the leeks are washed then checked over, trimmed and have the damaged outer layers discarded, all by hand. They pass through another quality control team then go in for a final rinse. All hand packed then shipped out to independent green grocers and wholesalers who supply restaurants and hotels all across the country. Seddons produce around 54,000 leeks PER DAY!! Whilst we were there we saw so many lorries and tractors coming and going full of leeks on their journey 🚜🌱

It really is so eye opening to see the amount of pure graft that goes into something that we are all often guilty of taking for granted. When you look at a humble veggie, it’s often hard to imagine how it got there and the rich history behind it. 5 generations of leek growers in the same family, all in West Lancashire

We can’t thank James, Jacqui, Jet (the dog) and all the team at Seddons enough for being so welcoming and taking the time to show us around. What a privilege to have such stunning produce on our doorstep
