What started as an idea officially became reality this morning, with Cottonopolis hitting the shelves at Aston's of Manchester and the back bar at Elysium Whisky Bar.
The idea was simple: can we capture Manchester in a bottle?
Cottonopolis is a 17 Year Old Ardmore, matured in an ex-Bourbon cask. With its smoke, oily character and waxy texture, we think it captures something of Manchester’s industrial past — but we’ll let you be the judge of that.
We wanted the bottle itself to tell that story too, so the artwork was created by SJ Young , a Manchester-based tattoo artist, with a design inspired by the city’s industrial heritage and the Manchester that gave Cottonopolis its name.
Most importantly, this bottle was created to give something back to the city that inspired it. A minimum of £10 from every bottle sold will be donated to The Christie, supporting the incredible work they do for people affected by cancer.
A Manchester whisky, designed in Manchester, sold in Manchester and raising money for Manchester.
