✍️ SAME PLAYER. TWO VERY DIFFERENT AUTOGRAPHS.

Take a close look at these two Sergio Agüero signed Manchester City shirts.

At first glance, you could easily think the signatures were from two different people.

They aren't.

⚽ The No.16 shirt represents Agüero's early Manchester City era, when he first arrived at the club in 2011.

⚽ The No.10 shirt represents the later stages of his City career, after he switched from 16 to the famous No.10 shirt.

But look at the signatures.

On the No.16 shirt, Agüero's autograph is longer, more flowing and much closer to a conventional signature. You can see considerably more pen movement and definition.

On the later No.10 shirt, the signature has become shorter and more economical, while still retaining characteristics of his signing style.

And that's something collectors sometimes overlook.

Autographs can evolve.

Imagine how many times Agüero was asked for his signature during a decade at Manchester City.

Shirts. Photos. Footballs. Programmes. Trading cards. Supporters waiting outside training grounds. Organised signing sessions...

Over thousands and thousands of autographs, it's hardly surprising that a player's signature can become quicker and more abbreviated.

It also demonstrates why comparing an autograph with one example you've found online isn't enough to determine authenticity.

Different doesn't automatically mean wrong.

There is one important distinction, though: the shirts themselves help us identify the different eras, but don't necessarily prove exactly when each autograph was applied. That's where provenance and authentication become important.

It's these little details that make collecting football memorabilia so fascinating.

Which Agüero signature do you prefer – the more elaborate No.16 version or the later, abbreviated style on the No.10? 👇

⚽ THREE FOOTBALL ICONS. FOUR GENUINE AUTOGRAPHS. ✍️

A few new arrivals at Autograph Art this week – and there's some serious footballing pedigree amongst them...

🇦🇷 Lionel Messi – Barcelona
A brilliant image of Messi celebrating in the colours where he became a global icon.

🏆 Lionel Messi – Ballon d'Or
Messi pictured with the trophy he knows rather well... a record eight Ballon d'Ors probably needs a bigger mantelpiece. 😄

🏴 David Beckham – England
115 caps, England captain and one of the most recognisable footballers of his generation.

🇳🇱 Robin van Persie – Netherlands
Arsenal legend, Premier League champion with Manchester United and still the Netherlands' all-time leading men's goalscorer.

All four photographs are genuinely hand signed and supplied with Certificates of Authenticity.

And they're a good reminder that collecting genuine football memorabilia doesn't necessarily mean spending thousands. Whether it's an £89 Van Persie or something a little more special from Messi, there's a way into collecting at all sorts of budgets.

We'll be adding all four to the Autograph Art website.

Which one would you have on your wall? 👇

⚽ PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL IS BACK… AND OWNING A PIECE OF IT DOESN’T HAVE TO COST A FORTUNE.

When people hear football memorabilia, they often think hundreds — sometimes thousands — of pounds.

But collecting doesn’t have to be like that.

With the new Premier League season underway, how about owning something a little more interesting than another replica shirt?

👕 A genuine match-issued / match-prepared shirt.

We currently have some brilliant examples, including:

🔵 Rico Lewis – Manchester City 2025/26 match-issued shirt – £79
🔵 Bernardo Silva – Manchester City 2025/26 match-issued shirt – £125
🔵 Gianluigi Donnarumma – Manchester City match-issued shirt – £125

These are shirts produced and prepared for professional players at the highest level — not simply replicas bought from the club shop.

And when you consider that a brand-new Premier League replica shirt can now cost around £80–£100 before you've even added a player's name and number, suddenly owning a genuine piece of football memorabilia for around £100 doesn't sound quite so extravagant.

Whether you're a serious collector, buying for a football-mad youngster or just fancy owning something with a genuine connection to the game, memorabilia doesn't always have to cost a fortune.

⚽ Sometimes you can own the real thing for roughly the price of the replica.

🏎️ WHAT DOES A 6FT PIECE OF F1 HISTORY LOOK LIKE?

Well… pretty much like this. 😳

One of the most spectacular pieces at Autograph Art is this full-size Mercedes AMG F1 display featuring a replica racing suit hand-signed by Sir Lewis Hamilton.

And when we say full-size, we mean it.

6ft tall. Suit. Helmet. Mannequin. The lot.

Hamilton's signature sits on the upper hip of the suit, turning an already impressive display into a serious piece of Formula 1 memorabilia.

But here's the interesting bit…

Hamilton spent 12 seasons with Mercedes, winning six World Championships with the team and creating one of the most successful driver/team partnerships Formula 1 has ever seen.

That chapter of his career is now closed.

Hamilton in Ferrari red is the present.

Hamilton in Mercedes colours is now part of F1 history. 🏁

And we've decided to do something we don't often do with a statement piece like this…

🔥 WE'VE REDUCED IT BY 40%. 🔥

Why?

We've got some exciting new memorabilia coming into Autograph Art and, unfortunately, even we eventually run out of wall — and floor — space!

So rather than hide this away in storage, we'd much rather give an F1 collector the opportunity to own it.

40% off. One display. When it's gone, it's gone.

We see plenty of signed photographs, shirts and helmets.

It's fair to say we don't see many 6ft Lewis Hamiltons walking through the door. 😂

🔵 WHY 16… AND NOT 10? 🔵

Ask most Manchester City fans what number they associate with Sergio Agüero and they’ll probably say 10.

But arguably the most important shirt number he ever wore at City was 16.

Agüero arrived in Manchester in 2011 and was given the No.16 shirt for his first season in English football.

And what a first season it turned out to be.

23 Premier League goals.

A first league title for City in 44 years.

And then, with the clock showing 93:20, one swing of that right boot changed Manchester City forever.

“AGÜEROOOOOOOO!” 💙

This signed 2011/12 City shirt at Autograph Art carries that original KUN AGÜERO 16 on the back — the number he was wearing when he scored perhaps the most famous goal in Premier League history.

That’s what makes memorabilia interesting to us.

Sometimes it isn't simply about the autograph.

It's about the story behind it.

And there aren't many football shirts with a better story than this one. ⚽️🏆

🔵 FROM SIGNED SHIRT TO FINISHED DISPLAY… 🔵

A little look behind the scenes at what goes into framing a special piece of football memorabilia at Autograph Art.

This Manchester City Women’s shirt, signed by members of the 2025/26 WSL title-winning squad, deserved a finish to match the achievement. 🏆

Framing a shirt like this isn’t simply a case of putting it behind glass.

Every stage is done by hand — carefully positioning and shaping the shirt, creating a bespoke mount around its exact contours, making sure the signatures remain prominent and then balancing the accompanying Champions artwork to complete the story.

The photographs show some of the process, from the shirt arriving in the workshop through the cutting and positioning of the mounts to the finished frame.

It takes time. It takes patience. And occasionally it takes moving something 3mm to the left, staring at it for five minutes… and moving it 2mm back again. 😂

But that attention to detail is what makes the difference.

The end result is a signed shirt transformed into something that can be proudly displayed for years to come — while preserving a little piece of Manchester City history. 💙

That’s the craft behind the frame.

🐾 ERLING’S PICK OF THE WEEK! 🐾

Our four-legged Head of Memorabilia has been sniffing around the Autograph Art collection again… and this week he’s gone slightly off-brand. 👀

Erling’s Pick of the Week is this Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne signed Rangers shirt, beautifully framed and complete with a Certificate of Authenticity. 🔵⚪️🔴

Apparently Erling chose it because Gazza was unpredictable, entertaining, occasionally caused absolute chaos and was loved by everyone.

We’re starting to see the similarities. 🐶😂

Personally signed by one of British football’s greatest characters, it’s a cracking piece celebrating Gazza’s unforgettable spell at Ibrox from 1995–1998.

🐾 Erling Rating: 10/10 paws
⚽ Signed by Paul Gascoigne
🖼️ Professionally framed
📜 COA included

Available now from Autograph Art.

And remember… Erling’s picks are never ruff. 😎🐾
