Today I sent out a price increase email to my customers. Why is it such a stress for a small business to do this when the big supermarket probably doesn't give it a second thought.

I haven't done a price increase since 2022 and costs have risen on over heads, fuel, consumables, electric, insurance, veg, fruit and so much more.

The increase is less than a packet crisps but it is still nerve racking!

The worry is will you still have a business next month but the reality is I have been trading 6 years in November if anyone can do it I can 💪 Andrea 🥕

It's been busy here at Boxed Green. I often get asked if I grow my own vegetables and the answer is yes! It's my hobby and not for the veg box service, they come from from certified organic farmers only.

Growing my own vegetables and fruit gives me an insight into what hard work it is to be a farmer in the ever changing seasons.

I grow on other people's allotments and community gardens. The basket pictured is my harvest today.

Exciting news is that I got assigned a derict council allotment! It needs alot of work and time hence I don't post on social media as much as I would like.

So would you like to see my new allotment take shape on my boxed green account? Or should I set up a new Instagram for allotment life? Comment below 👇 also I would be happy for an suggestions on an allotment name!

I am back! 💚
I had 2 weeks off spending time with my family at a wedding in France and making memories.

Lovely to be delivering in the sunshine today. The website is open for next week's orders if you have been considering joining the veg box service. Andrea 🥕

That's a wrap! I am off for 2 weeks!

I am going on holiday to recharge and rest although there is an abroad wedding thrown in I am very excited.

If you place an order in the next two weeks this will be delivered from 24th August onwards.

I will be taking a digital detox, although an odd picture of organic farms makes it onto stories here and there. Andrea 🥕x

I don't shout out enough about organic carrots. This is usually what a new customer notices when they order their 1st veg box. "The carrots tasted like carrots."

This week's carrots are from James Foskett Farms they are beautiful orange, red, yellow and purple.

I love carrots in everything pasta, stir-fry, dunked in homous they are rarely subbed out the box for something else. The summer carrots come with leafy tops that make the best pesto. 🥕

I can't quite believe it's been 2 years since I moved out of the tiny pumphouse in nature to a more grown up unit at number 17 Belmont Works I had to pinch myself this week.

The move has enabled me to host lovely workshops with amazing small businesses, stock more organic pantry items, a bigger fridge, less manual lifting and so much more.

I get asked a lot if I run a shop and can you visit? Unfortunately I only order what I need for customer subscriptions to avoid food waste and to be honest as I am one woman band and delivering takes up most of my day!

It is sometimes nice to look back on how far you have come and in November I will have been trading for 6 years!

UK Green beans are in season and are in the veg boxes this week.
I love this simple new potato, green beans and olive dish. Courtesy of

You will need
🔸500g new potato
🔸200g green beans
🔸2 garlic cloves sliced
🔸50g stoned Black olives chopped (I used green olive because that's what I had in!)
🔸Handful of basil
🔸Squeeze of lemon
🔸Salt and pepper

To make it
1. Cut the potatoes into 2-3 chunks and add to a pan. Cover with water and season. Bring to a boil and then simmer for approx 8 minutes. Add the beans to the pan for the last 2-3 minutes of the cooking time and drain.

2. Meanwhile heat oil on a pan and add the sliced garlic don't let it colour. Stir in the olives for a minute more and then add to the potatoes and beans.

3. Add a squeeze of lemon juice, a handful of basil and salt and pepper. Serve warm.
