As a young girl growing up in Manchester I always had a passion for cooking, I was so fascinated by the ingredients, textures, colours and aromas of the food and cakes my mum cooked and baked. Once in High School I decided to take cookery as one of my subject options (better known as Home Economics back then) and learnt how to cook and bake the basic scones, cakes pasties, pies and fruit salads. I
began to experiment with foods even more as I got older and often used my family as guinea pigs to create tasty meals such as Sweet and Sour Chicken, Stir Fries and the list goes on even Hardough Bread and Bun. Food to me is like art, having the right colours, paint textures etc to create a wonderful picture and so I believe is just the same with dishes everything on the plate has to compliment each other including the gravy or sauce. After leaving school at the age of 15 a month before my 16th birthday, I got my first ever job in a hotel working in the kitchen it was hard work for a child my age as I was doing split shifts nearly everyday but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Since then I have worked in various catering establishments including the first black children's home in Manchester where I was the cook and would also run cookery classes for the children in the home which was very rewarding. I love cooking and baking its a joy to provide dinner parties, bake and just seeing peoples plates empty and great feedback on how they have enjoyed my cakes and food and would hope that if you are one of those people that have not yet tasted my cakes and dishes that you too one day I would be saying the same. Take Care for now and feel free to leave a message, comments or even maybe to ask a question concerning a dish.
