So, Kinver:
There have been rumours going around about Kinver scout camp closing down. Thanks to some very active work by a couple of LARPers (who I won't tag because I haven't asked their permission) the news is not quite as it is being reported.
Kinver's board of trustees have decided to no longer run the site.
The current team of volunteers have stepped in until another business can take over.
The best way for Kinver to continue operating as-is would be for another company to buy it and keep it going as an independent site. If this does not happen, Kinver will be stripped of "all of it's assets" and will continue to run as a campsite comrpising of all of the bits of land that don't get sold off (which the board have said won't happen, but I've seen this kind of thing reneged on multiple times before).
Curently, what we can do as LARPers is to keep using Kinver for events, they might not be able to take bookings for a while, but showing interest will give solid support to the people trying to keep it running. We put good money into every site and several Scout Sites consider the boost we provide as essential to their continued improvement (eg. Squirrel Wood) so giving the volunteers a few thousand to fight on to keep the site as-is might be able to turn the tables on the former trustees and allow it to keep going in it's current form that we all know.

This isn't to say that Kinver (like all sites) doesn't have it's limitations and the hill between the fun parts and the buildings is a killer on your thighs, but it's always been a welcoming place to our hobby and it would be a shame to see it broken down to a level it's no longer usable.

The future of the Conspiracy:
Bookings this year have been very much below the past couple of years, events I have catered have opted not to have me back (no reason given (not that I'm owed any explanation)) and not many new games have picked up my services.
As things stand, it is quite likely that this will be the last year of me doing this - unless I get another three events before April, the money I make doing this for a living will not be enough to support me and my business.
What happens if I can't make a living doing this? Simply put, I have to get a job that isn't cooking for LARPers and in the workplaces I have experience in, that will almost definitely include weekends. I adore cooking for you all and seeing the worlds you're creating, but unless bookings pick up, I'm going to have to drop out of this rather niche industry and it's incredibly unlikely I'll be able to carry on as a side project. Of course, all ongoing bookings into mid-late 2026 will be fulfilled to the best of my ability and I hope not to have to cancel on anyone.
So if you're a game runner, talk to me. If you're a player, talk to your game runner. Otherwise, I'll stop doing what I do and move on to something that actually pays a livable wage.
