🥵☀️ EGG ALERT! ☀️🥵

We’ve had to evict the eggs from the egg stand and bring them into the house! 🥚🏠

At the moment it’s so blooming hot that if we leave them out there much longer, you’ll be collecting scrambled eggs instead of fresh ones! 🍳😂

Don’t worry though – the girls are living their best lives, lounging in the shade, keeping cool, and still popping out plenty of eggs. 🐔🦆😎

We’ve got lots of fresh chicken eggs and duck eggs available.

If you’d like some, just:
🚪 Knock on the front door
📱 Drop us a message on here

and we’ll happily put some aside for you.

The hens have done the hard work, so don’t let their efforts go to waste! 🤣🥚

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and remember… if you’re melting, imagine how the eggs feel! ☀️🔥

🥚🐔 Today’s egg collection at Abbey Bottom Farm! 🐔🥚

Just look at that selection of colours! 😍 From beautiful blue eggs to shades of cream, pink and brown, our girls have certainly been busy today.

But the real question is… 🤔

🐓 WHO laid the absolute whopper in this box?! 🥚😂

We’ve got our suspicions, but none of the ladies are willing to confess!

Fresh, free-range eggs with a little bit of variety and a lot of character – just the way we like them at Abbey Bottom Farm ❤️

Which one would you pick first? And who do you think is responsible for the giant egg? 👇😂

🐥🌿 A Little Farm Update from Abbey Bottom Farm 🌿🐥

Some of you may have noticed that our quail eggs have been a little harder to come by recently. Unfortunately, we’ve made the decision to rehome our lovely quails.

While they were producing plenty of eggs, quail eggs just weren’t proving as popular as our chicken and duck eggs, and we felt they deserved a home where they could be put to better use. The good news is they’ve gone to a wonderful, experienced quail keeper who regularly attends farmers’ markets and uses the eggs in a variety of ways. They’ve moved into a beautiful new setup, and we know they’ll be incredibly well cared for ❤️

But as one chapter closes, another begins! 🦆🐔

Thanks to the growing demand for our duck and chicken eggs, we’ve expanded the flock once again and would like to welcome Alice and Daisy to Abbey Bottom Farm! They were looking for a new home after their previous owner was sadly unable to keep them, and they’ve settled in brilliantly already.

For now, Alice and Daisy have joined Boris and Duchess of Limpington in the little pen at the back of the farm. Some of you may recognise Duchess as the little black-and-green duck who is often spotted enjoying life on the stream. Unfortunately, she developed a limp recently and despite our best efforts, we couldn’t pinpoint the cause. The good news is that after some rest and plenty of TLC, Duchess is doing much better and is due to be reunited with her friends on the stream this Sunday! 🦆💚

And that’s not all… 👀🥚

We currently have 10 eggs in the incubator which are due to hatch any day now! We can’t wait to welcome some fluffy new arrivals to the farm and will be sure to keep everyone updated when they make their grand entrance. 🐣

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our little honesty box and farm eggs. The demand for our chicken and duck eggs has been amazing, and we’re so grateful for all your support. 💚

🥚🐷 HANDMADE SCOTCH EGGS 🐷🥚

We’ve been comparing our Scotch eggs to a typical supermarket version and the difference is quite surprising… 👀

🥚 Our Handmade Scotch Eggs
✅ Large eggs from our own free-range hens
✅ Quality sausage meat from Ramsey Master Butchers https://www.facebook.com/share/1Dk5heuntk/?mibextid=wwXIfr
✅ Breadcrumbs
✅ Mustard, herbs, salt & pepper

Our Scotch eggs are approximately:

🐷 54% pork
🥚 31% egg
🍞 13% breadcrumbs
🌿 2% seasoning

That’s 85% pork and egg.

Compare that to a typical supermarket Scotch egg:

🐷 28% pork
🥚 37% egg
📦 35% other ingredients

Including ingredients such as:
• Potato starch
• Dried potato
• Rapeseed oil
• Sugar beet fibre
• Yeast extract
• Onion
• Additional processing ingredients and seasonings

Now, we’re not saying those ingredients shouldn’t be there – they’re often used to improve consistency, texture and shelf life on a large scale.

But here at Abbey Bottom Farm, we prefer to keep things simple.

🐔 Eggs from our own hens
🐷 Quality sausage meat from our local butcher
🌿 Simple ingredients you recognise

We like knowing exactly what’s in our food and where it came from.

No mystery ingredients.
No unnecessarily long ingredient lists.
Just proper handmade Scotch eggs made with local produce and a lot of care ❤️

Who else prefers food made from ingredients you can actually find in your kitchen? 👇

From left to right:

🥚 Olive egg = your standard-sized egg
🥚 Brown egg = a large egg
🥚 Brown egg = WOW! 😳

And before anyone asks… yes, the whopper cracked open to reveal a double yolker! 🍳🍳

Our girls at Abbey Bottom Farm are clearly in competition with each other to see who can lay the biggest breakfast! 🏆🐔

Who else gets excited when they find a double yolker? 🙋‍♀️🥚

🌈 Rainbow eggs 🌈

🥚 And just like that… SOLD OUT! 🥚

Between our chickens, ducks and quail, we’ve sold around 185 eggs this week and completely cleared the shelves! 🤩

A huge thank you to everyone who supports Abbey Bottom Farm and keeps coming back for fresh, free-range eggs. Our girls are working hard, but you’ll have to be quick next week! 🐔🦆🐦🥚❤️

🐔 Exciting things happening at Abbey Bottom Farm! 🐣

We currently have a very broody hen sitting tight 🥰 Although we’ve been collecting her usual eggs daily, we’ve now snuck some of our Easter Egger and Skyline hen eggs underneath her 🤫🥚

Fingers crossed, in around 20 days’ time we should hopefully have some gorgeous little chicks hatching! 🐥✨

These should grow up to lay beautiful green and blue eggs 💚💙

If anyone may be interested in chicks once they hatch, pop us a message and let us know 😊

We’re stepping slightly outside our usual lane and starting a new adventure — raising our own meat chickens 🍗🐥

As a family, we’re trying to become a little more self-sufficient and much more aware of where our food actually comes from — from start to finish. Instead of picking up supermarket chicken wrapped in plastic and filled with goodness-knows-what 🙈, we want to know exactly how our birds are raised, what they’re fed, and that they’ve been cared for properly every step of the way.

This is all part of learning to live a bit more naturally, sustainably, and honestly 🌱🚜

We’re definitely learning as we go, but we’re excited for the journey and proud to be taking the first steps towards producing more of our own food here on the farm 🥚🐓💛

So here’s where it all begins… eggs are in the incubator and the countdown has officially started! 🤞🐣
