# 1. **Are the walks free?**
- Yes, all walks are free.

# 2. **What time do the walks start?**
- Most walks start at 11 a.m. (unless otherwise advertised).

# 3. **How far do you walk?**
- Typically between 3 and 5 miles (unless otherwise advertised).

# 4. **How long do the walks last?**
- Walks generally last between 90 and 120 minutes, depending on the pace and stops. Occasionally, longer "Extended" walks are advertised.

# 5. **Why isnโ€™t there a fixed duration or distance for the walks?**
- Our walks vary and adapt based on the group and the dayโ€™s conditions, so they may change at the last minute.

# 6. **Can I bring my dog?**
- Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.

# 7. **Can I bring children?**
- Yes, children are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

# 8. **Do the walks finish where they start?**
- Yes, unless a linear walk is specifically advertised.

# 9. **Are there stiles or other obstacles on the walk?**
- Occasionally, we may need to cross fields or navigate stiles and other barriers. Assistance is always available when needed.

# 10. **Why are the walks free?**
- We are a voluntary group. Our walk leaders offer their time freely and do not get reimbursed. Walks are free, and we donโ€™t charge for membership or entry fees. Any costs, like insurance, are covered through fundraising events (such as quiz nights) or donations.

- You can reach us by:
- Clicking the 'Send Message' link on our page.
- Emailing us at **[email protected]**
- Calling us at **07467 834153**
For general questions, feel free to leave a comment, and one of our regular walkers will respond.

# 12. **Why do you not a have a WebSite?**
- We know a website would be useful, but right now we simply do not have the resources to create and maintain one. Websites require: - Time- Money - Technical and Artistic knowledge.
- These are listed in order of what is most precious to us โ€” especially volunteer time.
- We currently use Facebook as our main platform because it is free and allows us to quickly share walk details, photos, and community updates.
- If someone cannot access Facebook, our walk programme can also be found online through Mansfield CVS, at the link they kindly provide. https://www.mansfieldcvs.org/

# 13 ** why do you not walk at weekends?**
# 14 ** why do you not have evening walks?**
- We would like to offer weekend and evening walks, and it has been known to happen. However, due to other commitments, it can be difficult to find the time, and for safety reasons we prefer to have two walk leaders on every walk. There are also plenty of other groups walking at weekends, as many of us are already members of the Ramblers and other walking and hiking groups.

# # Please remember:
- We are a not-for-profit group
- We charge nothing to take part in our walks
- We receive no funding
- Everything we do is voluntary

Helping run the group is part of a positive community service that many of us enjoy and find rewarding.

6 intrepid walkers braved the really muggy weather setting out from the Rufford towards Radmanthwaite via the industrial estate then across the fields to Oxclose Woods. We then followed the footpath above Debdale back to the Rufford- 4.5miles in just under 2hrs. Thanks for those who turned out and to Peter for leading. Tomorrow's walk is from the Royal Oak, Edwinstowe....

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿšถ Sixteen Stroll Sherwood ๐Ÿšถ๐ŸŒณ

What a wonderful day to be out walking. Although the temperature and humidity were quite high, the weather stayed dry throughout, making for a very enjoyable stroll around this beautiful corner of Sherwood.

A huge thank you to all sixteen walkers who joined us today on this delightful circuit. We wandered through rolling farmland filled with thriving potato crops before venturing onto an overgrown woodland trail where the brambles certainly kept us alert. There was plenty of swerving, ducking and dipping as we negotiated the thorny obstacles, helping to keep us all flexible and supple. Thankfully, the inviting forest tracks that followed more than rewarded our efforts.

Today's walk came with two new walkers, Jan and Yvonne and three special bonuses:

๐Ÿ˜Š A) The chance to relax and chat over refreshments after the walk.
๐ŸŒฟ B) Beautiful nature and scenery wherever we looked โ€“ in fact we are all beautiful too!
๐Ÿค C) Wonderful companionship from start to finish.

It's often said that the people make the walk, and once again you all proved that we really are the best at what we do.

This unique landscape, lying within the historic areas of Clipstone and Sherwood Forest, offers a walking experience unlike any other. The mixture of farmland, woodland and forest trails makes it a truly special place to explore.

A special thank you goes to Laura and everyone at The Sherwood Pub. Your warm welcome and hospitality are always appreciated, but today's culinary highlight deserves a mention of its own. The Glazed Sweet Chilli & Honey, Belly Pork Lollipop was an absolute winner and scores a well-deserved 10/10 ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

This dish is certainly a new one on me. Wherever the inspiration came from, it was a masterstroke. There's absolutely no chance I'd attempt to recreate it at home, so I'll happily leave that to the experts.

๐Ÿšถ Tomorrow we wander from The Rufford Arms. We hope you'll be able to join us for another enjoyable Walk and Talk adventure.

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ˜Š Laughing from The Larch Farm to the lovely Newstead Abbey ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒณ

What a wonderful day of walking, talking, and sharing smiles as we set off from The Larch Farm on another enjoyable Walk and Talk adventure.

A huge thank you to Stan for leading today's walk and taking us on a fascinating journey around the beautiful grounds of Newstead Abbey, the historic home of the famous poet Lord Byron. With its stunning lakes, tranquil ponds, sweeping gardens, and picturesque woodland paths, this local treasure never fails to impress.

Today we spent slightly longer on the trail than usual, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy even more of the abbey's beautiful scenery. Judging by the magnificent photographs shared by Stan, Rob and Tony, it looks as though the sunshine, scenery, and good company combined perfectly to create another memorable day. Extra shout outs go to Rob for back marking, without being asked to do and the final shoutout to The Larch Farm for being such wonderful hosts.

The photos really are outstanding, capturing not only the beauty of Newstead Abbey but also something equally important โ€“ a group of walkers who continue to prove that regular walking, friendship, and fresh air are a wonderful recipe for staying fit, healthy, and happy. It's lovely to see so many smiling faces enjoying themselves along the way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create another fantastic Walk and Talk experience. Every walk is made special by the people who attend, and today was no exception.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Tomorrow's walk starts from The Sherwood Pub, Rainworth, where we'll be setting off for another enjoyable saunter together. We look forward to seeing you there

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Sensational Sunnydale Short Stroll ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped create such a wonderful atmosphere of fun, friendship, and conversation in the sunshine. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ˜Š

Our stroll went almost exactly according to plan, apart from one small obstacle. As we reached the start of Pleasley Vale alongside the beautiful River Meden, we discovered that a large ivy-covered tree had been dragged across the trail. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿšง

Who were they trying to stop from passing through? Us, of course, but why?๐Ÿ˜„

Fortunately, the detour only added around 200 yards to our route, so while it was a little frustrating, it certainly didn't spoil our adventure.

The countryside is looking absolutely magnificent at the moment. Thanks to the recent mix of summer sunshine and plentiful rainfall, everything is growing at an incredible pace. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณ From the fresh lime greens beneath our feet to the rich jade, emerald, and deep olive shades high in the tree canopy, nature was putting on a spectacular display at every turn. However i obviously missed the 'Red Kite' and Kestrel that Claire had seen๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ

A grateful thanks to Tony and Iain for the photos.

Our near-perfect journey covered 3.3 miles and took 1 hour 50 minutes, although our actual walking time was closer to 1 hour 30 minutes. The extra time was spent doing what we do bestโ€”strolling, chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฌ

I particularly enjoyed hearing the many words of wisdom shared along the way on a whole range of subjects, and the conversations continued over refreshments afterwards. ๐Ÿฐโ˜•๐Ÿบ

A special thank you to the The Sunnydale Inn for their hospitality and excellent service. ๐Ÿ‘

It was a real pleasure to see so many familiar faces today, and we'd also like to give a warm Walk and Talk welcome to Clive, who joined us for his very first walk. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜Š In fact, he was already here when I arrivedโ€”he must be keen.

๐ŸŒณ Tomorrow's Walk
We will be setting off from The Larch Farm Pub. This walk is usually between 4 and 5 miles, and we've allowed a little extra time so we can fully appreciate the beauty, wildlife, and nature around the Abbey grounds.

โฐ Please allow approximately 2ยฝ hours for this walk.
