As our sole male cria, we always knew that one day Marmaduke would have to leave us to find some other young male friends. Marmaduke was weaned off his mum, Crumble, eight weeks ago and has been looked after by his granddam, Honey, plus Rolo and Nutkin since then. Over the eight weeks he has grown in size and confidence and we knew the time was fast approaching for him to go to his new forever home.
Yesterday we took him to his new home in the Peak District, making a detour en route to collect a sole male cria from another alpaca farm. Marmaduke took to his new friend, Jet, straight away and they bonded well during the journey.
Marmaduke and Jet got a fabulous welcome from the boys at their new home and Marmaduke was mesmerised by his new friends. We left feeling very confident that our precious boy was going to be loved and well cared for and he were delighted to be assured that we are welcome to visit him at any time.

As 2025 draws to a close, we should like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last twelve months in so many different ways. We are truly grateful. We have been delighted to welcome many visitors back for return visits and also really pleased to introduce our alpacas to new visitors. We wish you all a very happy and peaceful New Year.

It rained and it rained and it rained!! The poor alpacas did not enjoy Storm Claudia one little bit. It was Rosie and Marmaduke's first experience of really bad weather but their mums kept them close by their sides and it was very touching to see the care that all the older girls took of the youngsters. You'll soon dry out and be fluffy again, Babies!

We have some very unexpected and heartbreaking news that we need to share with you. Our usual plans were in place to move the boys to the land which we use for their winter grazing. With just days to go before the intended move, we received devastating news - the land had been sold and we could no longer use it. This left us with the most horrendous problem because we only have one paddock that is suitable for use in the winter. For the alpacas’ wellbeing we knew that a very difficult and heartwrenching decision had to be made - either the boys or the girls would have to be rehomed and rehomed quickly because it would be too unkind to keep them in less than suitable conditions over the winter and our alpacas deserve better than that.

Within ten minutes of announcing the problem to the nationwide alpaca community, the decision as to whether we should keep the girls or the boys was made for us. A lovely family contacted us and, after long conversations with them, we agreed that the boys should join them on their farm in Cumbria. They came to collect them last Saturday and we carefully orchestrated their departure so that the girls did not see them leave as we did not want them to be upset, particularly Rolo (mum to Liquorice).

The family have promised that the boys will have a forever home with them. They have also promised to keep in touch and send regular updates and we have an open invitation to visit at any time. The boys appear to be settling in well. They have lovely paddocks to graze on and have a shelter very similar to the one that they are used to. We know that they will be very well looked after and cared for and we feel that they have gone to a very good home, which is some consolation at this time of enormous sadness.

We are acutely aware that we are not going to be the only ones who are upset by our beloved boys’ departure. They have many fans, both as individuals and collectively. We cannot thank you enough for all for the love and support that you have shown our boys over the years.

We did not take any sad farewell photos but we do have an abundance of photos of the wonderful times that we have had the privilege of spending with our amazing boys over the last nine years and we would like to share some of these with you.
