Rural Britain is under pressure – and it’s not accidental.
First it’s Agricultural Property Relief, putting family farms at risk by treating productive land like spare wealth.
Then it’s law-abiding fi****ms owners, farmers and pest controllers buried under ever tighter rules aimed at criminals they’re not.
Now it’s trail hunting, with centuries-old countryside institutions dismissed as a loophole rather than understood as part of rural life.
Add to that:
• Ongoing hostility to field sports
• Policies that ignore cash-poor, asset-rich farms
• Growing regulation designed for cities but imposed on villages
• A complete lack of rural voices at the table
Individually, each policy is dressed up as “fairness”, “safety” or “animal welfare”.
Taken together, they send a clear message: rural Britain doesn’t matter politically.
This isn’t about protecting the super-rich or excusing wrongdoing. It’s about family farms, working countryside communities, and ways of life that Labour simply doesn’t understand – or doesn’t care to.
You don’t have to live in the countryside to see the pattern.
You just have to be willing to look. 🤔
