End of an era!

When my dad and I started The Waltzing Matilda Boat during lockdown, we had no idea the journey we were setting sail on. From those first uncertain days to the countless laughs, pizzas, and people we’ve met along the towpath, it’s been nothing short of magical.

Last night, we officially handed over the keys to the new owner - and with it, a boatload of memories. It was a bittersweet moment, but we’re filled with pride for everything this floating pizzeria and coffee shop became.

To everyone who supported us, ate with us, chatted with us, or simply waved as we passed - thank you. We truly love you all.

It wasn’t perfect but it was ours.

The boat will stay local, continuing to serve the Macclesfield & Peak Forest canal. And here’s a little secret: the new owner is a pizza master - so expect great things ahead 🍕

It’s Time for Us to Say Goodbye!

What a journey it has been! When we set out to create this business back in 2020, our goal was simple: to craft a special place where people could connect, come together, and enjoy the beauty of the UK canals. At a time when the world was in lockdown and human interaction felt so limited, we wanted to build a community—a space where we could all share moments of joy and togetherness, even within the confines of isolation.

And so, The Waltzing Matilda Boat was born.

From the very beginning, this dream grew into something far beyond what we could have imagined. What started as a small idea turned into an incredible adventure, full of laughter, friendships, and cherished memories. Watching this little idea flourish has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives.

But with this growth has come challenges. Balancing this business with our full-time jobs has become increasingly unmanageable, and as much as we love it, both of us—Dad and I—have new goals and ambitions for the future.

After much thought (and plenty of heartache), we’ve made the difficult decision not to reopen The Waltzing Matilda Boat. While it’s sad to close this chapter, we hope you understand why it’s time for us to move on.

That said, it is our sincere hope that this story doesn’t end here. We intend to sell the boat as a business, in the hope that someone else will pick up the torch and continue this incredible journey. For now, it’s farewell. We’ll carry these memories with us for the rest of our lives, and we hope to see you around the canals someday. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of this unforgettable adventure.
