Another lambing season done, another 100% survival rate on the farm which is the 2nd year in a row we’ve achieved this.
Some folk claim to care for sheep as they’re scraping them off the road.
Whereas as we keep them in fields, keep them healthy and in turn we get the results.

2 minutes old and it’s up on its feet looking for milk.
How do they know what to do??🤔🤔🤔

Been a slow start to this year’s campaign, 2 ewes lambed a day early then nothing for days.
Greg finally got his ‘assisting a birth’ badge as he had to pull out the lamb that was stuck & not breathing, gave him a little bit of advice over the phone then in he went to save the lamb & ewe, top job Greg 💪🏻👍🐑.

For the first time on our smallholding we managed a 100% survival rate this year, every lamb born has either gone for eating or been selected for next years breeding program.
What's even more impressive is that I did the lambing by myself this year as we found out Hayley was pregnant with our first child the week we put the tup in, this resulted in her being unable to assist with the pregnant ewes as bacterias and infections carried by the sheep can cause problems with the unborn baby.
We add haylage, fodder beer and mineral licks for our ewes from tupping right up to lambing time to ensure they get what's needed to give their lambs the best start in life but after that it's spring, summer & autumn eating grass.
6 month old lambs at target weight fed on nothing but their mothers milk and grass, not bad for amateurs😉

Me and Eve were helping at the farm this weekend...well Eve was asleep and I was taking pics and videos! But the boys were hard at work, checking all the sheep and weighing this years lambs. This is done regularly from birth to monitor their growth. 🐑

All we need to do on a daily basis is a quick health check and count them to check they haven't escaped, all they want to do is make that 5 minute job as difficult as possible🙈

3 hours of sheep shearing and all I managed to get was a 30 second video.
Shearing is a necessary welfare task that helps keep the flock healthy, clean and able to regulate their body temperature better especially in this heat.
Big thanks to Jake Berry for all his hard work💪🏻👊🏻👍🐑🐑🐑
