A rare five minutes with her feet up.

Not because the work is finished.

Because there is still plenty left to do.

Silage making continues across the farm as Daisy prepares feed for the months ahead. Every bale represents careful timing, long days and planning for a season that hasn't arrived yet.

At the same time, many of the herd are carrying this year's calves.

One eye on winter.
One eye on the next generation.

That's farming.

While the herd enjoys the spring grass, the work of winter has already begun.

Many of these cows are carrying the next generation, grazing peacefully as they make the most of the season ahead.

Out in the fields, Daisy is preparing for what comes next. Hay and silage don't appear by chance. They are planned, timed, and gathered carefully to ensure the herd is well fed long after the grass stops growing.

Farming is always one season ahead.

Growing the next generation today, while preparing for winter tomorrow.

Silage is well under way.

Daisy cuts the grass at the right stage, when energy and nutrients are highest, then collected and stored to feed cattle through the colder months.

It is fast paced work, but done carefully to protect quality. This is planning ahead, making sure the herd is supported long after the growing season ends.

There is a different pace to the farm when the sun finally arrives.

The pigs are stretched out in the warmth, rooting through the paddocks and making the most of the sunshine.

But while they enjoy the weather, Daisy is already thinking months ahead. Silage season has started. Long days in the fields now mean the farm stays fed through winter.

That is farming.
Always one eye on today, and one on the season ahead.

There is a quiet responsibility in farming that most people never see.

Before the gate open, Daisy is already checking the herd. Watching closely. Knowing each animal through years of careful breeding, calm handling, and daily care.

Most of the cattle she watched being born.
Now they are raising calves of their own.

Good beef does not happen by accident. It comes from strong bloodlines, steady nurture, proper grazing, and understanding the herd at every stage.

Healthy mothers.
Strong calves.
Calm cattle.

That cycle matters.

You will see the cattle and sheep settling into a steady pattern now.

Grazing, resting, moving naturally across the fields. This is where consistency matters. No sudden changes, no unnecessary intervention.

Daisy allow's the animals to do what they are designed to do, supported by good management behind the scenes.

That is what builds quality over time.

Grass growth is starting to come through properly now.

This is what everything depends on. Good grazing supports steady growth across the herd and flock without needing intervention.

Daisy manages it carefully, field by field, to make sure it is used well and not overworked. Farming at this stage is about balance.

Using what the land gives, at the right time.

Lambs are settling into the pasture now. You’ll see them moving more independently, grazing alongside the ewes and covering more ground each day.

At this stage, it’s about consistency.

Good grass, steady growth, and minimal intervention. The work has already been done earlier. Now it’s about letting them develop as they should. That balance matters.

The cattle are now turned out onto the bank field.

Before turnout, each animal is given a bolus that releases steadily to support health, fertility and growth. It is delivered in a controlled way so there are no peaks or drops, just consistent support as they move onto fresh grazing.

Mineral buckets are also placed in the fields, allowing the herd to balance what they need naturally.

Healthy animals do not happen by chance.

They come from knowledge, attention, and doing things properly from the start.
