🔹 Addressing Glass-Related Injuries: A Safer Alternative 🔹

Every year, over 87,000 glass-related injuries occur in the UK, many of them in bars and pubs. These incidents not only cause significant harm but also cost the NHS an estimated £3 billion annually. Former Leeds Rhinos player, Matthew Syron, who was blinded in a vicious and unprovoked glass attack, is a poignant reminder of the devastating impact glassing can have.

In 2017, I founded Industry Boxing Events (IBE) to blend my passion for the hospitality industry with my love for combat sports. Our primary mission is to promote health and wellbeing within an industry I've cherished for over 17 years. Each event invites participants from the hospitality sector—bartenders, chefs, reps, and more—to join a 10-week boxing camp and then compete in a final show, all while raising money and awareness for their chosen charities. Over the past seven years, we've partnered with over 60 charities and raised more than £100k.

This March, we launched the inaugural Leeds Hospitality Awards (*White Rose Bar Awards) alongside a women-only boxing card, celebrating women in hospitality in Leeds. The event, held in collaboration with Leeds Women's Aid and International Women's Day, raised over £1,000 for Women's Aid. This milestone event has set the stage for fully inclusive awards in September '24. ⭐

BBP's cups played a vital role in our events, from launching our cocktail menu in March to supporting our successful Margarita bar in June. 🍸
