Excited to share that Windmill Agri has a couple one-off stalls planned over the weekend! 🌭🛍️
Bridgette will have a stall on Saturday at our stockist The Red Barn farm shop in Hinton, Mudford with free tasters and sausages rolls £3 each.
Then Sunday will head to Ham Hill Dog Show located in the Ham Hill meadows where there will be more sausage rolls, free tasters, and frozen sausages of various flavours to buy £5 for pack of 6😋Open from 10am

Introducing Phoebe Baldisaro!
Some calves come with their sires name on their tag so I do enjoy calling them that name😆
Initially she was just called Baldisaro but that became her surname after a friend said she is giving Phoebe vibes😆

Phoebe is weaned and staying in her pen for a few days before graduating to a bigger shed! (calves can’t cope with more than one change at a time so for now having no milk is her first change before a change of house later!)

At the moment I am rearing bought-in native breed calves that come from dairy cow dams (mothers) predominantly!
Phoebe is the only Hereford breed at the moment, lots of the Aberdeen Angus breed in the shed!
This calf batch will be old enough next year to graze and being native breeds make them more hardy to whatever challenges they face outdoors from wet weather to lack of grass at times.

Taking place on the Thursday before the UK August bank holiday since 2016, celebrating one of the UK’s favourite foods.

UPDATE. We have had a socket supplied after the appeal, the valve opened and was stripped down reasonably easily, freed up and is now functioning as it should
Massive thanks to Morgan Smith for the socket and everyone who contacted with advice and help. What started as a major problem ended in the faith in our community reaffirmed. Neighbours Perrins Hill Farm regularly bringing their water bowser to fill our troughs, Batstones at Axes Close Farm loaning a tanker to empty the reservoir to allow cleaning and repair. Bartletts at Red Barn Farm Shop Mudford for the tanker hose. Also to SO many people who have contacted us in support, advice etc as well as a few to take the mick which is fine, raised the mood!!
Farming has been tough over the last few years and you do often question is it worth it, but after incidents like this it reminds us we are doing the best job on earth!!!

Our third and final farrowing was first time Mum, Barrel Pig!🧡🖤 She farrowed on 28th July in the daytime from 1pm to being done by 5pm, she treated me to no missed sleep.
She is doing amazingly with her seven piglets.
Barrel pig has quite a backstory! Last three pictures are of her as a young, baby gilt.

Her Mum rejected her first litter and we were left with nine piglets to hand rear ourselves.
It was a tiring time but my Mum and I were very determined. Eventually over a month, nine became two piglets remaining and they went on to be weaned, the male grew lovely and went for meat.

Barrel Pig however luckily has a great underline and she has been kept and now bred from successfully!🎉
There was a chance Barrel pig may have inherited her Mum’s poor maternal instincts, however we raised her surrounded by plenty of young pigs to try teach her maternal, caring instincts.

Lastly, the reason why this sow is called Barrel Pig is revealed! For a short while Barrel pig lived in a blue barrel! Quicly upgraded to an upturned water trough. 🛢️🐷🐖🐖🐖🐖
