SPOT THE DIFFERENCE 🍋🫒

I can spot 3-4 differences on the front of these ceramic bottles of extra virgin olive oil.

These bottles are hand painted, so no two are exactly alike- each one is unique in it's own way.

The word "artisan" is one of the most abused terms in the food industry.

When it comes to extra virgin olive oil, many people think of old stone mills and traditional methods. Romantic? Yes. The best way to make great olive oil? No.

Today, producing outstanding extra virgin olive oil requires a modern mill because oxygen is the oil's worst enemy. The goal is to preserve aromas, flavours and healthy polyphenols.

A good extra virgin olive oil starts in the olive grove: careful cultivation, early harvesting, hand picking and immediate cold pressing.

That's what makes an olive oil artisan — not pouring oil from a large container into smaller bottles and adding a fancy label.

I've been tasting wine for over 25 years.

I come from a grape-growing and winemaking family in Italy. As a child, I spent my days playing amongst vineyard rows and olive trees. Looking back, my destiny was probably shaped there. No matter where my academic and professional career took me, I always knew I would end up back where it all started.

That's why, in 2003, I founded Italyabroad.com.

Since then, I have spent over 20 years working with small independent Italian producers, people as passionate about quality as I am. For me, it has always been simple: quality matters.

Every year I taste thousands of wines and hundreds of food products. Some are exceptional and we bring them to the UK. Others are not. If it isn't good enough, we leave it for someone else.

Wine is made in the vineyards. Great wine comes from perfectly healthy, fully ripe grapes. It takes a year of hard work, dedication and care to produce.

Great food starts with great ingredients, not preservatives, artificial flavourings or tons of sugar and salt to hide poor quality.

That's why you can trust us.

Everything you find on our website is there because we have tasted it, and love and it represents some of the best Italy has to offer.

No compromises. No shortcuts. Just authentic Italian food and wine from producers who care about quality as much as we do.
