Carnach Christmas Trees

Carnach Christmas Trees Carnach Christmas Trees is a family business which was started in 2009. Since then we have hand planted approximately 1000 trees every year.

Due to the size of our plantation it allows us to manage our trees in an environmentally friendly way, encouraging wildlife into our trees. This has resulted in a diverse range of birds, animals and beasties. The smaller size of our plantation also means we are able to give our trees that extra bit of TLC to produce the highest quality of trees. Each year we select a local charity or organisation to donate money to from our sales. Christmas Trees on sale from Wednesday 1st December.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Hope Santa is good to you! 🎄🎅🎁🦃

Every year we support a different local charity through the sales of our trees and collection buckets. This year we will be supporting Sophie’s Story.

This is the beautiful Sophie. In November 2024, aged 18months, she was diagnosed with Batten Disease (CLN1). Batten Disease is a rare genetic condition.

The cells within Sophie’s body (primarily her brain/nervous system) do not contain an enzyme called palmitoyl-protein thioesterase 1 (PPT1). PPT1 assists in breaking down proteins that are no longer needed by cells. When the PPT1 enzyme is absent or working poorly, partly broken down fats and proteins, called lipofuscins, build in cell compartments called lysosomes. This accumulation prevents cells from being able to work as they should, and eventually leads to their death. This is known as neurodegeneration.

The reason why Sophie’s cells do not contain PPT1 is because they are unable to make it. PPT1 is made by the CLN-1 gene and Sophie’s CLN-1 gene is faulty.

There are different types of Batten Disease, but Sophie suffers from CLN-1 (classic infantile), which is considered the most aggressive form, with symptoms generally starting between 6 - 18 months.

When Sophie’s family we were first given the diagnosis they were advised that they may only have 2-3 years left with her.

The money raised will be used to make Sophie’s life as fulfilled and comfortable as possible.
