Last week members of the Farm Business Survey team attended the Pacioli 30 conference in Austria, bringing together experts from across Europe involved in farm business data, benchmarking and agricultural sustainability.

We were pleased to present on our work modernising farmer recruitment for the Farm Business Survey in England, sharing how digital campaigns, targeted engagement and new processes have helped us connect with more farmers and improve participation.

The conference highlighted how farm-level data is being used across Europe to support agricultural policy, sustainability and business resilience.

To explore the European Farm Sustainability Data Network (FSDN) database, visit: https://agridata.ec.europa.eu/extensions/FarmEconomyFocus/FSDNDatabase.html

We also visited local farms and discussed the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture across Europe.

A big thank you to the organisers and everyone who shared their experiences and ideas.

๐ŸŒŸMeet the Team๐ŸŒŸ
We'd like to introduce another amazing member of the FBS team, this month it's Stephen!

I've been working for the Farm Business Service for 5.5 years and I'm based within the Central & Southeast team. My main role is visiting, collecting, analysing and processing data for all my farmers.

The best part of my job is getting the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with farmers while contributing to an evidence base that genuinely shapes agricultural policy. Every visit offers a unique insight into how different farms operate, and itโ€™s rewarding to turn those real world experiences and data into something that helps support the wider farming industry. Plus, I get to work with a brilliant team of colleagues every day in the Central & Southeast hub.

Outside of work I enjoy:
- Spending quality time with family ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง
- Travelling โœˆ๏ธ
- Attending the theatre ๐ŸŽญ

Across the country farmers are busy welcoming the newest additions to their flocks.

Fun fact: many of our Research Officers are farmers themselves, so this season is extra special for our team!
