Last week we took a much needed break and road trip to Cornwall which somehow became a busman’s holiday.
Stopping off at Padstow and Falmouth
We enjoyed our visit to Padstow Distillery at their new location next to Rick Stein’s seafood and deli outlets. We tried their multi-award winning Padstow Gin St George’s Well’ and Pink Grapefruit gin and are planning to stock these gins in 2027.
We also visited Tarquins gin store and their new wh**ky and rum store in the centre of Padstow. Tasted some limited edition gins. We hope to have a delivery of these before Christmas.
Then, after years of phone calls and emails we finally met up in person with Daisy and Chloe, owners and distillers of Loveday Distillery in Falmouth.
Their new recipe spiced rum is stunning, flavourful and smooth and even more exciting is that we came back with some of the organic oak-smoked, rum-infused figs which flavour their spiced rum, which we will use in batches of our Mascarpone and marinated fig gelato in 2027 😋
We met at their new unit on the outskirts of Falmouth, had a tour of the distillery and warehouse area, really interesting to see where they try out their new recipes - a work area full of experimental creations. All very exciting for the future.
They distill the most amazing unique gin,using some locally foraged botanicals. True masters of their craft and great business partners, talented, creative and ambitious, lovely to see their small independent business growing and thriving 🙌
Fabulous to finally meet them both, truly inspiring and great to have Loveday gin back on our shelves in the shop.
