Lynda's Homemade & Home grown

Lynda's Homemade & Home grown Home made and home grown goods OK then ..how did all of this start ? and that’s how “Lynda’s Homemade” was born. is very popular.

Well, I guess you could say it’s an overnight thing that took 30 yrs ……
I’m the mother of two incredible children both making successfully making their way in the world and on top of that I have three incredible grandchildren, making me the luckiest Grandma in the world. When my children were younger, I loved baking and cooking their dinners, all from scratch with fresh local produce. It tasted be

tter than the ready meals you saw everywhere and was so much healthier for us too. Well as they do the children grew and left home but I carried on baking and cooking, only now I also started making bespoke sauces and oils which made ideal gifts for Christmas and Birthdays. Now I know these went down rather well as soon I was taking orders to make more than I could ever use….. Now I have quite a varied range of goodies ……
Elderflower cordial (now this is good stuff), all the elderflower is picked fresh in the morning from mature wild trees
Sloe Gin (another good one). We have a good supply of Sloes around the farm
Rhubarb Gin. We get the sweetest spears of fresh rhubarb
Plum Gin. Plums are all picked off wild trees so all fresh and organic
Damson Gin, a deep and rich coloured Gin
Quince Gin. The fruit is from a secret and vintage line of Quinces trees and it makes a liquor of liquid sunshine
Quince jelly and Membrillo. Both are select products and excellent for cheeses and cold meats
More recently I’ve added Damson and Plum conserves and the latest additions are a rich BBQ sauce, intense dark chocolate brownies, cookies and cakes.

some times its not easy !....
at this time of year i'd normally have the last piglets/weaners with their trotters on the ground to have them ready for the christmas markets ...
alas thats not going to happen this year
unfortunately due to the unprecedented temperatures porcine meningitis has gone through a number of herds and killed them off , and that included the herd from which my last porkers of the year were coming from
there was nothing that could be done as such young animals in such heat are so vulnerable

its such bad luck , but when you read that some herds have been decimated by over 10% as a whole , and for some herds that means over 150 animals ,the bad luck is falling on already struggling farmers who are having to cope with increased food costs, labour and transport costs ........
i can cope until next year some will not

next year the price of your sunday roast , and even the sausages you buy from me , will be up ...again
lamb and pork could be reaching the cost of prime steak .....

such is life ...
stay cool folks and see you soon
