It may be rather miserable weather wise at the moment, but while the ladies are tucked up in their hives, we still have to check in on them. So, finally, with a small break in the weather today, we managed to get around our apiaries and make sure that they have enough food to last them through until spring. When we harvest the honey, we have to make a calculated guess as to how much is left for them. However, with the mild winter, they have been rather active, and just like us, the more active we are, the more we eat! Some colonies were a little short of stores (feed), so we added fondant to carry them through. As it is quite mild today some of the girls even came out to say thank you! 🐝 🍯 🐝
