How interesting that these saddles are flocked with wool.

Esther, a pure Jacob Ewe, delivered her little baby girl lamb at about 7pm last night.
The lamb is an absolutely cracking little thing; strong and healthy and eager to explore the World.
I’ve decided to keep them in for the day today so that they can catch their breath and bond after the birth - it’s quite a huge effort for both of them.
This morning, Esther came out of the barn to eat her brekkers with the other ewes and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw her lamb bouncing out and going over to meet the other lambs; at just 12 hours old.
Esther is now back in the barn and they are snuggled up on a clean straw bed and resting. It’s a good place to be on a rainy day.

What a joy this beautiful sunny day is before and after far toooooo much rain.

Flora wishes to feed her little lambs so she calls them over. It’s so lovely to see them scamper to Flora and have a good feed. She is such a fantastic mother and she enjoys taking care of them both.

Flora and her lambs go inside at night and stay out in the paddock all day. This is probably a bit more pampering than they actually need but they do look very well on it.

Late at night in the barn. Here are the sheep munching happily on their hay. Which one will lamb next, do you think? Don’t guess the closest one - that’s the ram!!

Kashmir, our ram, lives with the ewes year round. He is a much loved part of the flock and helps to look after the lambs when they are born.

Lambing 2026 has begun with Flora in the lead having produced two beautiful, strong and healthy, little girl lambs.

Flora is a Jacob / Texel ewe (50:50). She is black but as her wool grows out, it is a café au lait colour at the ends. She has really lovely face markings. She is an extremely sturdy person and an excellent mother.

Flora’s twins are 75% Jacob and 25% Texel. One has Jacob markings and one is identical to Flora and even has her beautiful face markings.

Last night there was a full moon, the Hunters Moon. It was hidden behind thick cloud. I often find that people and animals have a surge of energy when there is a full moon and maybe this was the reason for this mad stampede. It was pitch dark and the 2024 lambs were charging past at full speed, stopping for a short rest and then off again. I could hear their feet as they thundered past and just see fast moving shadows. Benji, Casper and the other older Cuddle Bunnies were keeping well out of the way. Benji was pressed to my legs - I think he found it all a bit alarming. Fortunately the lambs had a marvellous time and nobody got mown down.
