Over the last two days Nick, James and I have supported the children in years 4, 5 & 6 at Kettlefields Primary School to prepare and cook meals which they will later sell in their pop up restaurant in a couple of weeks time.

Children who learn to cook at a young age develop important practical life skills that support independence, health, and confidence. When kids understand how to prepare meals, they’re more likely to make healthier food choices and develop a better relationship with what they eat.

Cooking also teaches valuable lessons beyond the kitchen, like following instructions, managing time, solving problems, and even basic maths through measuring ingredients.

It can encourage creativity and gives children a sense of accomplishment when they make something themselves. I know when I make my children dinner and they clean their plates (doesn’t always happen!) I feel a great sense of achievement! Massive shoutout to Mark at Anglian Produce for sponsoring this event. You are a legend!!
