🚨 A FRENCH TOAST SHARING PLATTER?! 🤯🍓 Abergavenny, what are you hiding from us?!

Forget choosing just ONE French toast topping, Toast & Timber have a sharing platter that might just be one of the most picture-perfect brunch dishes we’ve seen! 😍🔥

We arrived around 11:30am yesterday and the queue was already stretching way out the door! 👀 After trying the food, we can absolutely see why!!

We tried:

🍓🍫 THE FRENCH TOAST SHARING PLATTER

JUST LOOK AT IT! 🤤 A whole board featuring classic bacon & maple syrup, Biscoff, chocolate brownie and even matcha!

There’s a flavour for everyone, and getting to try a little bit of everything is what makes this platter so good! The only one we weren’t sold on was the pistachio matcha, as we were expecting purely pistachio - it was really heavy on the matcha😂

We genuinely haven’t seen a sharing platter quite like this elsewhere, and for us, THIS is the dish that could put Toast & Timber firmly on the brunch map! It’s indulgent, ridiculously photogenic and practically MADE for sharing! 🙌🏻

🥩 THE TIMBER TOASTIE

Slow-cooked beef brisket, caramelised onion, cheese, smoked mustard and rich dipping gravy.

That brisket was BEAUTIFUL! 🤤 Toasted bread packed with flavour, dipped into that rich gravy - serious comfort food!

🥔 THE PIT MASTER LOADED HASH BROWNS

Slow-braised beef, melted cheese, rich beef dipping gravy and crispy onions.

Crispy hash browns, tender beef, gooey cheese and ALL that gravy! 🔥 Can you tell we have a slight obsession with beef brisket?! 😂🥩

A little heads up tho, that queue took us almost 40 minutes to get a table, so be prepared for a wait during busy brunch hours😵‍💫

We thought we were clever accepting a table for two that came up quicker until we remembered we had a baby, a dog AND a feast to fit on it! 🤦🏼‍♂️That one was entirely on us, not the staff or venue! The inside is fairly small and can feel cramped when busy, so bear that in mind if you’re visiting with little ones or a dog.

They also add a service charge on to your bill - just another thing to be mindful of! 💴

The food was AMAZING. The brisket dishes absolutely delivered on flavour, but that French toast sharing platter is the real showstopper for us.

It’s something a little different, looks incredible in photos and gives you the chance to sample multiple flavours in one go. We reckon this could be the dish that gets everyone talking about Toast & Timber!❤️

‼️ CARDIFF, we think we’ve just found a serious contender for your next chippy tea 👀🐟🍟

We headed over to Ismail Ka in Canton to see what they had to offer, and this place certainly knows how to do a proper chippy dinner. They’re particularly well known for their homemade rissoles, which are even said to be supplied to other fish & chip shops around the city because they’re that good! 👀

But obviously, we had to try a little bit of everything:

🐟 Large Fish & Chips
🥔 Homemade Rissole
🧅 Onion Bhaji
🫛 Pea Fritter
🌭 2 Jumbo Battered Sausages
🍗 Chicken Nuggets
🥖 Chip Butty with Gravy
🍛 3 Different Curry Sauces

The fish was huge, with a proper crispy golden batter and plenty of fluffy chips underneath. The battered sausages were exactly what you want from a chippy, big, crispy and seriously satisfying. Most importantly, no soggy batter! 👍🏻

The homemade rissole definitely lived up to the hype too, while the onion bhaji and pea fritter made for some cracking additions alongside the usual chippy favourites🤤

And then there was the chip butty with gravy!!!!! This is something I’d never seen/thought of before and a chip & cheese butty is usually a staple on all of my chippy orders🫪 This would probably be a death row meal for me, absolute pinnacle of comfort food🤯

Add three different curry sauces into the mix and we basically turned up with the intention of trying half the menu🤤

Top Deck Fish & Chips — definitely one to add to the Cardiff chippy list! 👀

🚨 SOUTH WALES FOODIES — WE’VE FOUND OURSELVES SAYING “THIS IS OUR FAVOURITE MENU YET” AGAIN… BUT HEAR US OUT👀🔥

We’re always excited when there’s a new menu at Butterflies Steakhouse , and this time around there aren’t loads of new mains, but there are plenty of new starters, sides and honestly, we’re not complaining😂

We went all out and tried:

🥩 Pulled Welsh Beef & Yorkshire Pudding
🌶️ Crispy Chilli Duck
🧀 Panko Fried Mozzarella
🦀 Welsh Crab & Lobster Rolls
🌶️ Pork & Nduja Meatballs

🍔 Sticky Chicky Burger
🥧 Blaenavon Miners Pie

🧅 Cajun Battered Onion Rings
🥩 Teriyaki Beef Dirty Fries
🍕 Hand-Stretched Garlic Pizza Bread

🍮 Pistachio Crème Brûlée
🍌 Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding with Barti Welsh Rum

And honestly… you could literally come here, order a load of starters and sides and have the meal of your life🤤

This does not take anything away from the mains mind!! They were still absolutely stunning (that Blaenavon Miners Pie in particular was ridiculous) but the starters this time around were genuinely out of this world🌍

And then there are the desserts😮‍💨

The Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding is now the THIRD time we’ve had this, and it’s still every bit as good as we remembered. That combination of banana, sticky toffee and Barti Welsh Rum is just 🤯🤯

And come on, JUST LOOK AT THAT CHEESE PULL FROM THE PANKO FRIED MOZZARELLA🧀🤤

Another menu, another reason why this remains our favourite restaurant in all of South Wales❤️

🔥 FORGET BURGERS, THIS IS THE KIND OF STREET FOOD WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! 👀

Over the weekend we finally made it down to Founders & Co. Swansea , one of the few street food venues we’d somehow never got around to trying!🤯

It’s a small, intimate venue with just four vendors, and we headed straight for Charred Street Kitchen, from the same owners as MAG Restaurants 🍔

And honestly… what a refreshing change. 👏

Street food can sometimes feel like it’s dominated by burgers, tacos, pizzas and curries, so seeing something completely different immediately caught our attention🥹😍

We went in not really knowing what to expect and came away seriously impressed🙌🏻

🍗 Chicken & Chorizo Espetada
Chargrilled chicken & chorizo skewers, basted in smoked paprika & roasted garlic butter, served with seasoned skin-on fries, salad, tomato, red pepper & chilli sauce, roasted garlic mayo, charred flatbreads & fresh chives.

🍟 Onion Bhajis Loaded Fries
Authentically spiced onion bhajis, tikka mayo, mango chutney, seasoned skin-on fries, fresh chillies, coriander & charred lemon.

And obviously… we couldn’t visit a street food venue without trying some pizza from The Pizza Boyz | Authentic Homemade Italian Pizza too😂🍕

We opted for a half & half:

🍯 Dirty Harry — Honey BBQ base, mozzarella, pulled pork, crispy onions, parsley & ranch.

🌶️ Holy Pep — San Marzano tomato base, mozzarella, pepperoni, honey & chilli flakes.

But Charred Street Kitchen was the real surprise for us. The chicken and chorizo had so much flavour, the marinade and sauces were incredible, and we loved the fact you got both the charred flatbread AND seasoned fries with the espetada 🍟

It was fresh, different and absolutely packed with flavour🔥

Definitely one to add to the Swansea food list!

🇮🇹 BRIDGEND, YOU’VE GOT A NEW ITALIAN IN TOWN AND MAMMA MIA, IT’S A GOOD ONE. 👀🍝

BoccaBella has officially landed in Bridgend, and after heading along for their launch night on Thursday, we can safely say they’ve arrived with a bang ‼️

We went in hungry and ordered a serious spread:

🍝 Pappardelle – Beef Short Rib Ragu
🍗 Chicken Parmigiana
🥩 Beef & Pork Meatballs
🥟 Crispy Beef Ravioli
🎃 Butternut Squash Fritti
🍟 Truffle & Parmesan Fries

And honestly… where do we even start?

The Pappardelle was the standout for us. Rich, indulgent beef short rib ragu coating those gorgeous ribbons of pasta, the kind of dish where you keep going back for “just one more bite” until suddenly the plate is empty🤤

Then there was the Crispy Beef Ravioli… crispy, packed with flavour and absolutely bloody delicious. Is it obvious we have a thing for beef yet? 👀😂

The Chicken Parmigiana definitely deserves a mention too. A beautifully tender chicken breast topped with a spicy layer of ’nduja, melted cheese and all the Italian comfort-food goodness you want from a dish like this🥰

And because apparently we hadn’t ordered enough, we also tucked into the Beef & Pork Meatballs, Butternut Squash Fritti and Truffle & Parmesan Fries and there wasn’t much evidence left on any of the plates by the end😮‍💨

BoccaBella is bringing something seriously exciting to the Bridgend food scene, and if launch night is anything to go by, this new Italian is one to keep an eye on🇮🇹🔥

🍔 They don’t just make sick burgers, Burger Boyz now make sick merch too 👀

If you know Burger Boyz , you’ll know the burgers are seriously good. But over the last few months, they’ve been building a brand that goes way beyond the food — and their new merch is just as fire as what’s coming out of the kitchen🙌🏻

🍪 THESE COOKIES ARE AN ABSOLUTE JOKE 🤯

A brand new cookie business in Newport that’s only been going for ONE MONTH… and somehow they’re already producing these monsters! 👀

We were sent a box from JUST COOKIES. featuring:

🍪 Bueno
🍪 Red Velvet
🍪 Oreo
🍪 Terry’s Chocolate Orange
🍪 Nutella
🍪 M&M’s

And honestly every single one was ridiculously good (especially after 10/15 seconds in the microwave)😮‍💨

These are the kind of cookies that are soft, ridiculously gooey and seriously moreish, with every one stuffed right through the middle and absolutely OOOZING with filling 🤤

And there’s even more reason to keep an eye out for these 👀 JUST COOKIES. are now supplying their cookies to brewd. in Newport, so if you saw our recent post about this brilliant new coffee spot, you’ll soon be able to pair your coffee with one of these absolute beasts! ☕️🍪

For a business that’s only been operating for a month, the quality here is seriously impressive. You’d never guess they were this new!🙌🏻❤️

If this is what they’re producing after one month, we can’t wait to see where JUST COOKIES. goes from here!👏🏻

☕️🍓 NEWPORT HAS A NEW SWEET SPOT… 👀

Newport, you’ve got a new coffee stop worth knowing about 👀

We popped into brewd. , a brand new spot serving up specialist coffees, matcha, acai & granola bowls and, most importantly… some seriously indulgent sweet treats 🤤

And this loaded raspberry & pistachio banana bread was literally to die for?! 😮‍💨 Soft, sweet banana bread absolutely buried under creamy sauce, pistachio, raspberries and crunchy toppings. This was the standout for us🍓💚

We also tried:
🍓 Raspberry & pistachio loaded banana bread
🥐 Vanilla cruffin
🍪 Biscoff iced latte
☕️ Iced latte

Everything looked the part, the coffee was spot on and the whole place has that “I’ll just pop in for a coffee” vibe… before inevitably ordering half the menu 😂🫣😳
