Castell Pridd (Earth Castle) has become what we always dreamed of: a place that provides energy, food, water and shelter for not just us, but a myriad of other wild creatures as well. It's now a busy, diverse ecosystem. Kale and various currants grow amongst docks and nettles. Apples grow amongst bracken and brambles. Raspberries grow amongst thistles. It's all welcome here (within reason). And all sorts of creatures call this place home as a result. No chemicals needed.

We've created a productive nature reserve, just like we always wanted.

Sorry about the confusion the other day 😬, we're definitely trying to put the nastier parts of the last ten years behind us, but we're definitely NOT going anywhere! 😁🙌

We have always hoped to find peace here, but even though we're still looking for that (it does feel closer now), we got married here, we built our house here, we're raising our kids here and, however hard the battle to live here has been, that battle has made the bond between us and this land even stronger.

Castell Pridd (Earth Castle) is our home, and we're not going anywhere.

We're drawing a line under the *events* of the last 10 years. We are soldiering on 💪

Thank you everybody! I am pretty chuffed with that photography result.

And thank you Charis for, well, everything 🤗❤️😘🤗

And with that, we think it's time to draw a line under the last ten years. There's no way it should have been this difficult to live this kind of lifestyle, and we definitely lost our mojo a bit recently, but we've survived it all as a family and it's now time to put it all behind us and move on.

The world is a much sh*ttier place than it was even a couple of years ago, but we built this place because the future looked bleak and we're glad we're still here now it looks so much darker.

I hadn't realised posts weren't coming through to facebook so here's an exciting one from the other day:

Matthew has reached the final of the 2025 Ocean Photographer of the Year competition with this picture of a Greater Black-Backed Gull harassing a Puffin for its beak-full of fish!

He's now decided this must be a big mistake of course (it's taken me 5 days to persuade him to let me post about it here 🙄😁), but it's not, he's definitely a finalist in one of the world's most prestigious nature photography competitions and we can't wait to see what happens when release the complete results on the 18th September (well I can't anyway 😁).
