Nothing goes to waste at the Deer Farm.

Yesterday we had to cut tree branches that were overhanging over the Lanes around the farm (as with the weight of the leaves they were bending downwards), and they went straight to the deer for them to eat the leaves.

Monday we will collect the wood and give it a second use.

If you have trimmings and branches that you would like to bring us, do get in touch with us.

We need a (approx 4ft) round baler and a wrapper to be able to do our own silage bales, as we have found over the years that timing is critical and not always contractor availability aligns with the windows that the weather gives as well as ripeness of the crop. So if you happen to know of -or see somewhere- a baler and/or a wrapper for sale, please do let us know. Many thanks.

Horses and deer doing a little “siesta”. With this heat the best thing is to be lying down… or in the water.

As we are about to enter calving season we have spent most of our time this weekend reinforcing fencing and gates to give deer the privacy they need.

If you are walking next to the farm and see a hind/doe lying down next to the fence, please continue walking without causing any noise or disturbance as she may be about to give birth. Forcing a deer to move at this critical time could have a negative consequence for the calve/fawn as well as the mother. Enjoy and admire nature, but please be respectful to it.

14 days without a drop of rain, and 1 1/2 months with

As we can't let the deer out of the fields, we cut the grass of our raceways -and lawn- to feed the deer, specially when we haven't seen more than a few drops of rain in the last 45 days.

So if you have grass or greenery (trimmings, green leaves, etc), do consider donating it to us as our deer will greatly appreciate it. Many thanks.

Since the winter’s extremely wet season ended on March 13th (when rain is pointless for livestock farms), we have had no meaningful rain to get grass growing.

Can someone please tell whoever is managing the tap that it is the other way around: rain from mid-March to mid-October, and no rain from then on? Many thanks. 🌦️🌈🦌🍀🌳🚜

We are looking for 2-5 families in need with which to share our joy of our Risen Lord! If you know of anyone struggling with the rise in fuel prices after a long & wet winter and a never ending cost-of-living-crisis. please point them our way.
