After serving the homes and businesses of Newquay and the wider South West region for nearly 30 years, it is with great regret that Gareth and Rachel Craze announce their family owned and operated business, FreshPoint South West, will close its doors for the last time at 12 Noon on Saturday 30th September 2023.
FreshPoint has been a central part of supplying Cornwall’s hospitality industry since 1995, delivering fresh produce to hotels, cafes, pubs and care homes across the South West. The business was expanded to offer the same high-quality produce to retail customers and FreshPoint quickly established a loyal customer base who enjoyed the wide range of plastic free produce, kitchen essentials and delicatessen products. During the lockdowns that were instigated in March 2020, the business was boosted when FreshPoint became a major lifeline to a great many families both in Newquay and the surrounding areas, as it was the first to offer free home delivery. Since the easing of restrictions there has been a steady decline in customers shopping local, with large chain supermarkets once again rising in popularity. This, combined with the falling holiday market, the financial and economic crisis, and the subsequent closure of a number of hospitality venues, lead Gareth and Rachel to decide the time is right to step back from the demands of running their business and pursue more quality time together.
Whilst they are looking forward to retirement, the family will remain active members of the Newquay community, with this new phase allowing greater involvement in supporting local charities and ventures. Rachel and Gareth would like to thank each and every one of their customers for their support and extend their heartfelt gratitude to the FreshPoint family who have stood by their sides, not least during the past 3 very tough, unpredictable years.
