Dawn Patrol is a coffee brand that is inspired by the surfing term for those who rise early and catch the first waves of the day.

The brand was created by me, Stephen - passionate surfer who lost his arm due to cancer.

A sarcoma diagnosis told Stephen his surfing days were over.

He didn't listen.

He paddled back out. He caught the first waves of the day. He built a coffee brand on that same fire, for everyone who refuses to stay on the shore.

Really pleased to be supplying The Wild Lotus out of county, up country in Hinckley - with our signature house blend, our session cofffee, the Newquay Bay Blend.

I was contacted by Beckie of The Wild Lotus who, whilst on holiday in Cornwall, had been into the The Wave Project Cornwall and purchased one of our 250g retail bags.

Liking the coffee, the story behind the brand and the ethos of ‘Awaken the Strength Within,’ Beckie got in touch to enquire around featuring the Bay Blend as a guest bean.

Forever grateful to Kirsty and Ian The Larder - 106 Fore Street, Newquay for their willingness to support small, independent businesses such as mine.

They took a chance with Dawn Patrol Coffee so to know it’s selling so well in store, is a great feeling.

It’s such a cool shop, selling top quality, fresh produce. If you’ve not yet paid a visit, it’s well worthwhile and in doing so - you support small independent retailers on the high street.

And we all want towns with vibrant, functioning high streets.

Busy few days following this years Surf Skate Expo preparing orders for a few of the Dawn Patrol stockists in Newquay.

A bumper order of our Cornish wave inspired blends going into The Larder - 106 Fore Street, Newquay, followed by a restock for the The Wave Project Cornwall and of our house blend, our session coffee the Newquay Bay Blend.

Will always be grateful that they were all willing to take a chance on a small business and stock it on their shelves - supporting a small player up against some established brands.

Few prototypes of some Dawn Patrol Coffee Point of Sale. Super grateful to for his never ending, enduring time and support. A lot of people comment on how much they like the branding, that’s all down to I have random ideas and he turns them into something tangible- thank you bro 🙏🏽🪓💪🏽

A little over three years ago, I mentioned I’d had a longstanding idea for a coffee brand, that sourced coffees from areas of the world synonymous with fantastic surf and great tasting coffee, called Dawn Patrol.

To see the product range in these images, is in itself an achievement, which I’m proud of. Starting your own business, trying to build a brand is one of the hardest things I’ve ever attempted to do. I’m so invested in it now, not so much financially as I’ve only ever really spent what I’ve made - obviously I have put money into it, but I’ve not remortgaged the house to realise a dream.

The investment has been time, effort and more than anything emotion. I am so emotionally invested in this process now that I don’t think I could ever stop.

The dream is that one day it provides a stable income for my family and I. Not to be rich, not to be wealthy but to be fulfilled. And who knows, if it could one day be something that my children could be involved in and take over that would be truly joyous.
