📣 Cliff Road & Station Approach businesses need your support! 💛

As many of you will already be aware, the Mid Cornwall Metro works begin today, bringing some significant changes to traffic around Cliff Road for the next few months.

The Orient is located just off Cliff Road, on Station Approach, so these roadworks will inevitably have a big impact on us and our neighbours, including Car Vogue, Robo and Tai Sing.

I’m not going to comment on the cycle lanes themselves, as we all have our own opinions on the project. But one thing is certain — whether we agree with it or not, the improvements are going ahead.

So rather than complain about something we can’t change, we’re going to focus on what we can do: adapt, find solutions and minimise the impact as much as possible 💪🏼

🚗 COLLECTING YOUR ORDER?
The railway station car park currently offers 30 minutes of free parking, so if you’re collecting your takeaway from us, you can still park there for free as usual.

Just remember to allow yourself a little extra travelling time due to the traffic and diversions, particularly if you’re coming from Henver Road/St Columb Minor side of town.

🚙 DON’T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE TRAFFIC? WE DELIVER!

Please don’t forget that we have a fantastic and reliable home delivery service, thanks to our amazing team of drivers! 🙌🏼

So if you’d rather avoid the traffic and diversion altogether, let us bring your Chinese straight to your door. 🥡🥢

Most importantly, please continue to support all the brilliant local businesses along Cliff Road AND Station Approach throughout these works.

The next few months may be challenging for all of us, particularly as we head into the quieter time of year, but your continued support genuinely makes a difference.

📢 Boardmasters Week Update ⚠️

Just a quick update on our opening arrangements over the next couple of weeks.

🚗 This weekend (Fri 31st – Sun 2nd)
The entrance to the station car park remains OPEN, so customers collecting orders or walking in can still access us as normal. Please note that the top half of the car park (nearest Newquay Police Station) is closed.

⏱️ Don't forget to enter your vehicle registration to claim 30 minutes' FREE parking.

🍜 Next Week
We will be OPEN on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings only.

🚧 During these three opening days, the station car park will be fully closed. Our delivery service will still be running as normal, so if you can, please consider having your order delivered.

If you're collecting your order, please allow a little extra time to find alternative parking. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

❌ Boardmasters Weekend
We will be closed throughout the Boardmasters weekend (Friday–Sunday).

🎉 Good news! From Monday 10th Aug onwards, we'll be open 7 evenings a week from 5pm, right through until 30th August! We can't wait to see you all over the rest of the summer holidays.

Update.
Fin would like to thank everyone for their generosity and all the shares and comments on this post that made it possible.
Due to this, he has been able to replace his bike.
So a massive thank you to everyone❤️
Showing that decent people exist and communities come together.
We don’t know for sure. But from what we were told the bike was out of the county the same day.
Bike theft is a huge issue. Even with cameras and locks in place.
Thank you Newquay and beyond. 🤗

🚨 STOLEN BIKE – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

UPDATE!

It’s been a few hours now and not likely to get a good result. The staff at Oceanside are going to donate all tips to replace the bike. We’ve had some lovely offers from you guys to help towards that. If anyone would like to donate to the bike fund it would be greatly received. Let’s show him hard work is rewarded and what being part of a team and a community is all about.

This bike belongs to one of our 16-year-old kitchen porters, who worked incredibly hard all last summer to save up and buy it. 💔

This morning, it was stolen from his workplace.

Let's make this bike TOO HOT TO HANDLE. If you see it being ridden, offered for sale, or hear anything about it, please let us or the police know. Even the smallest bit of information could help. Reported to police - crime reference number available on request.

✨ Fundraising Update ✨

Thanks to the profits from tonight and the incredibly kind donations we have received, we have raised an amazing £2239.90 for Cornwall Air Ambulance so far.

Your support means the world to our family, and together, we are helping to support a charity that provides such a vital service to our community.

On 13th June, it will be two years since Niko gained his wings 🪽

Many of you knew him as the face behind The Orient, but to us, he was a devoted husband, an incredible dad, and someone with a kind and generous heart who always cared deeply about others.

To honour his memory and continue spreading a little kindness in his name, we have decided that all profits from The Orient on 13th June will be donated to Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Cornwall Air Ambulance provides a vital service across Cornwall, helping people in their most critical moments, and we hope this small gesture can help support the incredible work they do.

Thank you for continuing to support our family, our business, and for keeping Niko's memory alive in so many ways.

🚗 Parking Update for Our Customers 🚗

We've received clarification regarding the Station Approach car park.

✅ FREE parking for up to 30 minutes
✅ Multiple visits throughout the day/evening are allowed
✅ Visits are NOT added together

If you park in the station car park, please remember to register your vehicle registration number (VRN) at the parking machine each time you visit.

As long as each visit is within the 30-minute free parking period and your VRN is registered, you can return later and enjoy another free 30-minute visit.

This is especially helpful for our delivery drivers and customers making quick collections.

🚗 Station Car Park Update 🚗

The new parking system at Newquay Station Car Park is now ACTIVE.

✅ Up to 30 minutes parking is FREE
⚠️ You MUST still obtain a ticket and enter your vehicle registration number (VRN), even for the free 30-minute period.

If you're popping in to collect your takeaway, please make sure you grab your free ticket first.

💡 Handy tip: If you're planning to do your shopping at Aldi or Asda and pick up a Chinese takeaway at the same time, it may be easier to park in their customer car parks, as they offer longer free parking periods than the station car park (Aldi's customer car park also requires your Vehicle Registration Number to be registered.)

🔷️ If you're a Blue Badge holder, you can apply for a free permit through APCOA's Blue Badge portal. Once approved, you can park free in some APCOA car park.
