The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed the shed has been shut for part of the last week - we had pre-orders for fresh eggs and had been selling out before they could reach the shed! 🐓

Quite the egg haul today from our pastured hens - filled the egg tray and then some.

🐓A big day yesterday🐓

The hens were moved outside into their field now that the flock down restrictions have been lifted.

They weren’t sure about the rain to begin with but very happy foraging in the grass once they explored outside the trailer.

I’m starting to become an egg fanatic.

The variation in egg colours currently being laid is just beautiful - thank you girls! 🐓

➡️Although just to say, the egg colours are a happy accident of focusing on hens who should thrive in a pastured poultry system where they can forage to their hearts content. Contented, healthy hens in a resilient food system is my focus ⬅️

We still have a few of the smaller, initial (pullet) eggs coming through - and then ones like the beast in the picture (82g!) - a very large egg indeed 🥚

Exciting weekend - collected my compost order from Pengelly Garden Centre to make the new no-dig beds in the growing area.

This was just one of the two loads!

Grateful to the Pengelly team for their help loading!
