WEDDINGS UNITED

We may be supporting different teams in the football tonight but today we are all united for the UK wedding industry.

Our precious wedding industry contributes almost £15bn each year into our economy. The industry needs urgent support with extended furlough and immediate grants to help us survive the next few months as we try to trade whilst still under restrictions.

🚨The continued restrictions under current guidance is still holding us back – WE NEED FINANCIAL SUPPORT NOW!

No matter who wins the ⚽️ tonight we are united in the wedding industry goals and needs in the coming weeks.

We need a clear plan with defined next steps for weddings across the country in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Weddings are usually planned more than 6 months in advance.

Giving us indicative dates and a roadmap across the devolved nations will be critical for our couples and suppliers, allowing everyone to plan properly.

We know that the furlough scheme has been crucial to the survival for so many businesses to date. Hospitality, weddings and events businesses are now in the final stages of opening.

It is vital that furlough is extended to see these businesses over what will be a very hard Winter after the impact of COVID.

Our industry is normally very self-sufficient, but we have been begging the government to let us open and ensure we have access to existing financial support and targeted grants for our sector until we are fully trading without restrictions.

It is crucial that there is a funding support mechanism in place now to support our industry given we are still restricted and the end of our busy season is just 3 months away.

There are so many safe and easy ways to help us relax restrictions further by utilising advance testing and track & trace. It’s being utilised for holidays, educations, sports, and other live events.

Why are we being so discriminated against? From financial help to opening us up for trade.

to a memorable wedding we catered this time last year in .

did an amazing job pitching the marquee almost on top of Hadrian's Wall. With 24hrs notice the whole ceremony and reception was moved forward 12hrs to ensure the 200 guests and over 50 staff & suppliers were all off site by 8pm to avoid . Everyone was out in the nick of time and the drive back north will never be forgotten. Wild!🌬🌧

Little did we know the unbelievable fortitude, ingenuity and professionalism shown by all the suppliers in the face of adversity would come to be the norm in the follwing year. We will all be back!
