Whilst we’re used to the annual springtime ‘lamb races’ out in the fields…. I’d never yet witnessed the young Red Deer doing something similar. 💚💚

Redhill Dusty enjoys a relaxing scratch on one of the boulders, in the company of a couple of our wild Grey Lag geese.
Whilst we’ve had up to 40 Mallards on the ponds for ages, the geese appeared a few years ago, bred successfully, and seem to like it here!
This year we have a pair with a single gosling (unusual), plus a pair with six.
They’re better at protecting their young from crow attacks than the ducks, and judging by the number of ducklings still around, the goose presence seems to work to their advantage too. 💚🪿🪿🪿🦆🦆🦆

The entrance to Tup Towers was getting a bit eroded with traffic & poop-scooping, so it was time to roll out the blue carpet…🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤭
It took them all of 30 seconds to ‘christen’ it, but should be easier to keep tidy.💩🧹

I recently happened upon a mention of some lambs that were apparently very similar to their sire, ‘Whisky’.
Curiosity got the better of me, so a little bit of detective work confirmed that right enough, it was Barony Whisky, born 2016 and sold at the Carlisle Sale in 2017 to Jack & Dot Singleton of Preston, (sadly both no
longer with us).
Jack always said that the big lad was well-mannered and a pleasure
to have around, - a view shared by his current owner (Sarah Oakes of Darwen). YES!! he’s still on the go!

Although placed as Reserve Champion at the 2017 Show & Sale, he managed to be the first ever from a Coloured flock to make a 4-figure sum. His sire was Chase Tonto, dam was Barony Nutmeg,- who also gave us Uniper (joined the fledgling Snelson flock), and Viral Vampire, who seems to keep popping up regularly around Halloween!

Anyway, it was heartening to learn that he’s had such a full life, and to see some photos of his recent lambs, (makes it all worthwhile)💚

With the wintry showers coming over several times per hour, the lambs are keen to seek out any nearby shelters.
First-timer Etsy is due any day now, so that will wrap up lambing for ‘26.

Festive greetings to you all, fromThe Barony Flock.
