Darrow Green Farm

Darrow Green Farm πŸ„ 100% grass-fed beef
πŸ¦ƒ Free-range turkeys and geese
🚜 4th generation family-run farm
πŸ“ Waveney Valley, Norfolk

Our cattle are pedigree Lincoln Reds, a traditional breed native to the East of England. The herd are all born and raised on the farm and free-range on our grass pasture for much of the year. We supply Darrow Green Farm Beef Boxes that provide a mouth-watering selection of top quality cuts. The beef is hung for a minimum of 3 weeks for succulence and flavour. Our Lincoln Reds receive no antibiotics

or growth
hormones and the beef is neither coloured, chemically preserved or enhanced. Each beef box has a typical weight of 8kg and contains at least 2 roasting joints, a variety of steaks, stewing steak, shin and prime minced beef. Box contents will vary slightly with every order. We will do our best to cater for your specific needs. Our turkeys are truly free-range on the surrounding grassland from about 8 weeks of age. They are slow-growing, finished at 25 weeks of age, compared to the usual intensive bird at 16 weeks, making for a fully mature and delicious flavour. The turkeys are fed on a high percentage of wheat, with natural proteins and no growth promoters or antibiotic additives. They are dry plucked by hand and hang before processing on the farm premises. We offer the best care and attention to our animals, taking our time to ensure a superior and tender meat is produced.

I move our cattle every few days so they can enjoy fresh new grass and stay healthy - fewer parasitic worms for one thing! But it’s also about getting the most out of our grass growth. Grass that is grazed for longer than 3-4 days starts to become stressed as the cattle keep going back to it and eating the new shoots. So moving the cattle is also about giving the pasture a chance to rest and bounce back, and as a result we can afford to use less fertiliser. Wins all round!
