New in this week we have carrots and red onions. You can definitely see the change in weather showing in the plants. Growth has slowed up along with ripening of things like tomatoes this isn't entirely surprising given that September is next week! We've started to get some of the winter greens in the ground so hears hoping for a good start to Autumn!

The celery is has been slowly coming on and is looking small but good after all the topsy turvy weather we've had. It's probably got another month left to grow so will be a nice bit of freshness for autumn. I didn't use to like celery but definitely a convert since we started growing it a few years ago.

The sweetcorn is also looking good and it's been quite exciting watching it grow and form the cobs! Just need to keep an eye on it now to see when they are ripe and ready for picking. We planted squash with them for an extra crop and to help smother any weeds. This is a Native American technique that has been used for centuries. Usually climbing beans are also grown alongside and the combination is known as 'Three Sisters'.

It's going to be another bumper week for tomatoes! Over the last few weeks we've been supplying our customers with 700g of tom's all grown here in our polytunnel's! There's no comparison really with supermarket one's which just don't live up to the flavour of ours! Here we have two of our orange varieties Jen's Tangerine (1st photo) and Santiam Sunrise. As always some of our new varieties have been a success while others have not lived up to it. It's always trial and error with new varieties.

We had some amount of rain this week which was definitely needed to give everything a good soak! The courgettes seem to have gone to town on it as we had a tonne of them! Thankfully we still managed to get out and tick off some jobs despite the weather and there has still been some heat in the sun so great growing conditions to be had.
