🥗 A QUICK HEADS-UP ABOUT SALAD & VEG PRICES 🥗
I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop because the price of a lot of salad and veg has gone absolutely crazy at the moment.
Things like tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, aubergines, iceberg lettuce and spring onions have all shot up, and potatoes are up too.
Just to give you an example, tomatoes are normally around £2.20 per kilo for me to buy — today they were £5.10 per kilo. That’s more than double, and some lines have nearly tripled.
We keep our prices as low as we possibly can and always try to give you good value, but when the market price jumps this much, unfortunately some of it has to be reflected in the shop price too.
We’re being told the usual reasons — weather, supply and transport costs — and with potatoes, we’re also moving into the new season, which is pushing prices up there as well.
As soon as the market prices come back down, our prices will come straight back down too. We don’t put prices up for the sake of it.
I just thought I’d explain it so everyone knows what’s going on — and it’s probably also why you might notice a bit less salad on your plate when you’re eating out at the minute! 😂
