It's a bit of a 'Pizzas and Picnics' kind of week at the larder today.

We have pizzas - lots of meaty ones, and some margaritas tood. Pizza is always REALLY popular with our members.

And we have a lovely selection of 'deli' items including:

Sliced meats - beef, chicken, corned beef and ham
Cheeses - chilli-spiced cheese, cheddar, and spreadable cheese.
Some nice-looking ready meals,
Several pigsworth of bacon - both smoked and unsmoked!
Olives and guacamole
Some vegetarian snacks.
Cooked chicken goujon/dippery things

And much more.

Everything - of course - is subject to availability. But something tells me we won't be running out of bacon and pizzas in a hurry.

Come along and pick up some bargains.

Service is from 4:30 to 5:15 at the Village Hall this afternoon.
New members always welcome

I don't think anybody will be worrying about sunburn whilst they're waiting for this week's larder to open.

Just remember it's the later session today that runs from 5:15 to 6:00 pm. Every month a few people turn up super-early because they have forgotten it's the late larder..

Happy larder day.

It could be very hot this afternoon so if you’re planning to come early, please bring a bottle of water, a hat, and slap on some sunscreen.

There’s really no big advantage to coming early as we have plenty of food to go around.

Open today from 4:30 to 5:15 pm.

A few notes ahead of this week's larder:

1. Jordan from COOK! Kingsthorpe will be bringing chocolate cake, carrot cake and lemon cheesecake. What better reason for making sure you come on time?

2. I'm planning to send off my box of printer cartridges for recycling. The last box earned us £11 for the larder - I know, it's only pennies, but if you were going to throw them away, it's all good. If you could bring along any you're happy to donate, that would be great.

3. We may have WNC customer services with us tomorrow. I'm not 100% sure but be ready with your tales of pothole and bin collection traumas (or anything else you want to tell them).

And finally, if you are one of the people who volunteered to join our team and help with either lunchtime unload (1 pm on Wednesday) or to help with set up or putting away after service, I will need to get you to complete a volunteer form so that you are insured. I'll bring along to both sessions tomorrow.

Late larder today - so we'll be in action from 5:15 to 6:00 pm.

It's a good time for Pizza Night - we have lots of pizzas and quite a lot of garlic bread.

And, of course, lots of chicken and oodles of fruit and veg.

See you later.

Is there anything you keep finding at larder that you've been reluctant to try because you either don't know what it is, or you don't know what to do with it?

If I do happen to know what to do with it, I'll try to post details - or we'll ask around and find somebody who does and we'll make a post.

Heck, I might even learn to edit a video so you don't have to watch it for too long. How does that sound?

Nigella has nothing to fear from my cooking videos, but if you'd like some proper Halloumi recipes, the BBC Good Food website has plenty.

Halloumi is brilliant - it's great for quick dinners and veggie barbecues. BBC Food has halloumi recipes for every occasion. Try it in veggie burgers, risottos, pastas or even as a veggie alternative to bacon.

It’s a bit of a long video, but I wanted to show you how to cook halloumi. We have been getting lots of it and last week people were telling me they didn’t know if they liked it or didn’t know how to cook it.
I have some cooking in the oven but my favourite way is frying.

Today’s larder is 4:30 to 5:15.

We have lots of roast chicken again.

In fruit and veg there’s a strong potatoes and small citrus fruit theme this week.

And on the ‘cheese counter’, there’s still lozza mozzarella (mozzarella) for your pizzas and salads and oodles of Halloumi (aka squeaky cheese).

See you soon
