Happy September all you lovely larder members. It's Larder day!

And, as it's the first one of the month, here are two things you need to know:

1. it's late larder - we're open from 5:15 to 6:00 pm

2. it's the first week that you can use your 'free £5 shop' voucher that you would have been given when you registered in August.

A few reminders about the vouchers:

1. They are not transferrable and can only be used by the account whose number is on the slip.

2. They are not replaceable - so if you've lost them, you've lost the opportunity (this was explained when you registered).

3. You are very welcome to upgrade to a £10 shop by paying the £5 difference

4. You can only use each voucher once and you must present it at the desk

5. You can use it on any Wednesday in September - so if you forget to bring it today, there's still plenty of opportunity.

It's another good week at Brixworth Community Larder with lots of great food available.

It's also you last chance to renew your membership (or sign up as new members) and receive two vouchers entitling you to a free £5 shop in September and another in October. After this week, the offer is over and done.

Big news! Our lovely legal lady, Sarah from Community Law is with us today to help with all your legal topics. Be sure to say hello. Her company can help with a wide range of legal issues, including benefits and housing disputes, non payment of Child Support and lots of other things too.

Deadline for submissions for small grants for young people in Brixworth and Scaldwell via the Foundation of Thomas Roe is the 5th of September.

To request an application form, you need to email the clerk at [email protected]

This is a different organisation than the Larder, but one we're proud to support and promote for it's work in supporting the young people of Brixworth and Scaldwell.

Don't wait too long - request your forms now and be sure to get them submitted by the deadline.

URGENT - PRODUCT WARNING

A couple of people who had the chicken nuggets from today's larder have reported that they smell bad.

If you took packs of these today, please take a photo (so we can issue you replacement points next week) and then throw them in the bin.

With a product like chicken, we can't be too careful.

We will be reporting back to our supplier and it would be helpful to know if other people have had bad nuggets.

If you have friends or neighbours who come to larder and don't use Facebook, please let them know about this issue.

Happy Larder Day

Today's larder is going to be another good one. We've got the list of what's coming and we're all fired up for it to be EPIC!

(I could say it will 'eclipse' all other weeks - but I would only be doing that to have an excuse to post a photo of last week's planetary action.)

It's a good week for the meat eaters - lots of chicken in lots of different formats - from large packs of drumsticks, to whole cooked chickens, goujons and nuggets, we're hoping they fly off the shelves.

But it's not ONLY chicken this time. You'll have to come along and see the other meats on offer.

We also have those big oblong M&S pizzas - perfect for tonight's dinner.

We also had a call first thing to ask if we could 'rehome' an extra 10 trays of bread. So, free bread restrictions will be lifted. Bring an extra bag and don't forget you can freeze it.

Our awesome - but not entirely seasonal - stock of M&S lentil soup needs to be cleared out of the freezer, so we'll be putting that out for FREE today. So long as it hasn't thawed, you can pop it straight back in your freezer when you get home. I use it as a base for curries sometimes - it's a very versatile and tasty product.

If you haven't renewed your membership yet, please do so today or next week. Our special offer of two free £5 shop vouchers (on for September, the other for October) when you register or renew is ONLY valid in August. So you have today and next Wednesday to sign up and make sure you benefit from that.

Hot Hot Hot!

No, I'm not talking about the amazing value of Brixworth Community Larder. I'm just asking you all to take great care whilst you're waiting to come to tomorrow's larder. It's going to be another scorcher.

We'll get you in as early as we safely can, but please cover up, use some sunblock and a hat and think about coming a little bit later if you're one of our early birds.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
Helen and Barbara will be in the hall from 1:30 to 3:00 for anybody who wants to pay their membership before larder starts.

When you come early, it enables us to get your details checked without slowing down the main service. You don't HAVE to, but if you're local and can pop down for a few minutes, it helps us to keep everything flowing well after we open the doors at 4:30 for normal service.

Please note, this doesn't enable you to jump the queue and we're not able to provide somewhere to wait inside until we open to everybody later in the afternoon.

Membership for the year - from August this year to July next - is just £10. This year, to encourage people to do their registrations in August, we're offering two vouchers to each household that pays this month. One is for a free £5 shop in September, and the other for a free £5 shop in October.

A big thank you to all the people who came early to process their membership renewals.

It really did help us to get a head start on the admin so that we didn't have to slow down the larder service too much.

We'll be opening early for renewals again next Wednesday. Watch this space for an announcement of the timing.
