Great to be out in Crowton this week on a sheep farm with local farmers Bob and Phil, filming with BBC North West.
We had a really important chat about my Private Member’s Bill, which aims to improve legislation around dog attacks on livestock.
Shortly after I was first elected, Phil shared the devastating story of a horrific dog attack on his calves - very sadly many of them didn’t survive. The emotional and financial toll these attacks have on farmers is immense.
This Bill is about strengthening protections for livestock and making sure there are real consequences when things go wrong. It’s about safeguarding animal welfare and backing our farming communities.
