🌸 Celebrating British Flowers Week 🌸

This week is all about celebrating the beauty, seasonality and sustainability of British grown flowers - and I couldn’t let it pass with mentioning my all time favourite: the sweet pea.

With their delicate petals, romantic colours and unforgettable fragrance, sweet peas capture everything I love about the British flower season.

There is something truly special about flowers grown close to home, reflecting the changing seasons and supporting local growers.

🌸What’s your favourite British flower? I’d love to hear in the comments!

What a brilliant way to celebrate 🐝 World Bee Day 🐝

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Kingfisher Day Nursery in Didsbury to talk with the children about bees and why they are so important to our world. From learning about the bees waggle dance, collecting pollen and seeing beekeeping up close, the children were full of excitement and curiosity.

They all looked fantastic with their paper flowers and beekeeping hats and it’s so nice to hopefully inspire the children to care about nature and our environment. You never know, there may be a couple of future beekeepers! 🍯🌸

A huge thank you to the all the nursery staff and children for such a warm welcome.

I had absolute disaster with my ranunculus this year and despite feeding them, talking to them and looking after them better than I probably do my own family, they just didn’t want to play so I’ve dug them up, put them somewhere to dry out and then I’ll try again next time.

The first year I grew them I literally just shoved them in pots, left them out in all weather and they were amazing! Maybe I should go back to my tough love style 🤔

Any tips gratefully received!

A lovely week here with plenty of sunshine (but also plenty of watering!) made easier by the HUGE hosepipe that arrived this week.
Spent a lovely morning at with some lovely growers from the north west and came home with some baby chrysanthemums that I’m really excited about.
Lots to get on with next week so follow our page to keep up to date 🌸
