🚜🐐🐄 What a busy few months it’s been at Thellow Heath! 🚜🐐🐄

We’ve certainly had our hands full with our first ever go at kidding our herd of pedigree pygmy goats, then onto calving the herefords, shortly followed by getting the first cut of haylage baled and stored ready for winter.

Starting off with the pygmy goats kidding and being a huge success, with 8 goats producing 10 healthy kids - 6 singles and 2 sets of twins. Have to say a massive thank you to my Mum and Chris, who completely took on the kidding season while I was unable to do it myself. They did a fantastic job and couldn’t have managed it without them! Lovely to see all the mums and babies outside in the sunshine and starting to see their individual characters really shine through❤️

Calving season then kicked off with all the cows calving outside in the field. Lovely to see all the gorgeous calves produced from our Hallwood 1 Aero being our first year using him across the whole herd rather than using AI. It’s been great to see the cows and calves thriving out at grass.

Once calving was finished, it was straight into first cut haylage. Chris has been working incredibly hard fitting all the tedding and raking around his work to make sure conditions were right before baling. Also a huge thank you goes to J Barber for mowing and to Williams Contracting for baling and wrapping, your help is greatly appreciated.
