Hops are at the heart of what gives beer its character.

They bring balance, bitterness, aroma and flavour, helping to cut through the natural sweetness of the malt while adding everything from fresh citrus and tropical fruit to floral, earthy and resinous notes.

Timing matters too. Hops added earlier in the brewing process help create bitterness, while later additions bring out more of their aroma and flavour without overpowering the beer.

Choosing the right hops, and knowing exactly when to use them, is one of the things that can turn a good beer into a great one.

🍺 New releases are brewing...

As we continue celebrating 25 years of Winter’s Brewery, we’ve got three exciting beers coming your way. Each one has its own character, from a rich and warming to an easy drinking session ale and a strong golden ale with a storm brewing behind it.

🍻 25th Anniversary | 5.8% ABV
A full bodied, deep amber and mahogany Extra Special Bitter with rich toasted and caramel malt, herbal hop aromas and a smooth, sweet finish. Brewed especially to celebrate 25 years of Winter’s.

☁️ Cloudburst | 3.7% ABV
A chestnut coloured ale combining Maris Otter pale and crystal malts with a balanced helping of Styrian hops. Full flavoured, easy drinking and perfect for a session.

🌪️ Tempest | 6.2% ABV
A strong golden ale... but perhaps we shouldn’t say too much just yet. You’ll have to wait for the typhoon to come through.

Keep your eyes peeled for release dates and get your hands on them while you can.
