Hands & Hops 🤝

It's that time ⏰ next Sunday we'll be brewing our annual green hopped beer, using the freshest Nottinghamshire hops.

With the help of some generous volunteers, we pick a glut of hops on brew day morning for maximum freshness 💚

If you're free, we'd love your help. You'll of course be compensated with plenty of beer 🍻

Sunday 6th September 9am at Magpie Brewery, NG2 3JA. And if you have any hops of your own, bring them along for the brew!

This beer will be on our bar at the Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival in October 🏹

Make ours a cone🍦

All beer lovers know that quality hops are integral to brewing 🍻

But here's a fact that blew our minds: did you know that whole cone/leaf hops only account for a tiny fraction of the commercial hop market worldwide? Roughly 2% or less 🤯

The majority of global hop purchases are split between hop pellets (around 60-75%) and hop extract (25-40%) 👩‍🔬

Like many microbreweries, we fall into that 2% here at Magpie. All our core range ales are brewed with whole leaf British hops 🇬🇧 from Charles Faram & Co
