WEDDING W**E 💍
We were delighted to receive these lovely photos and hear how well our w**es went down at Sam and Elisy’s wedding at The West Mill.
Several months before the wedding, Sam and Elisy joined us to taste through a selection of w**es based on their criteria and preferences. They then chose their favourites, placed an order and we delivered ahead of the big day.
Congratulations, guys! Wishing you all the very best for married life. And, thank you for letting us supply the w**es for your special day.

Book club meetings don’t get much better than when the author comes along at the end to chat about the book and answer questions.
Huge thank you to Jon McGregor for joining us. Reservoir 13 was a hit amongst the group and our appreciation was certainly enhanced by the insights we gained into the book and its creation from Jon.
Next up: Disgrace by J M Coetzee. We can’t promise another author appearance but it’s another very good read (IMO). Meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 10th November to discuss it.

We’ve had a number of curious enquiries about this tasting on Saturday so we thought we’d set the record straight ….
WHAT IT’S NOT: 1. A tasting of alcohol free w**es. 2. A tasting of w**es that have scored really badly with critics.
WHAT IT IS: A tasting of delicious w**es with a silly quiz show element thrown in.
And don’t worry - you don’t need to be a w**e expert. If you can name a couple of grape varieties, think of a few places around the world where w**e is made, and be prepared to take the occasional wild stab in the dark, you’re more than qualified!
W**e will be tasted. Answers will be guessed. Low scores will be celebrated. Fun will be had. 😃
We still have a few spaces left. Get in touch if you’d like to join us. 👍

National Poetry Day, October the 1st
On this day, I had a thirst
For new-found knowledge and new-found w**e
And events in the diary were looking fine
In a happy coincidence, for this very day,
A fortuitous invite had come my way
for Restaurant Adams to sip and dine
On beautiful food and Galician w**e.
We had Albariño with Cornish fish
This classic pairing was really delish
Then lovely Mencia with Aylesbury Duck
I must admit, it was tasty as… anything
With breads and dessert and a bit more w**e
As lunchtimes go, this was sublime.
Huge thanks to my man at Enotria, Max
And to Restaurant Adams and Martin Codax.
After lunch, back on the train I went
To Nottingham for a special event
With a South African w**emaker whose name is Charl
It’s sad for the poem, he isn’t from Paarl
But rather, from Swartland where the sun often shines
And from dry farming methods and old bush vines
Charl and his team make fantastic w**es.
His excellent w**es, combined with his tales
Of vineyard adventures, of joys and travails,
delighted our guests and helped generate sales.
What a day! We had so much fun
Now, lucky for you, our poem is done! 😊

Thanks to Team BB for their hard work and also to our guests for helping to make it such an enjoyable afternoon. It’s been a busy few weeks at BB and beyond. Here’s what we’ve been up to…
1-8: We headed down to London in search of some great new w**es for Sherwood, stopping at the Kia Oval for the Liberty W**es Autumn Portfolio Tasting before heading to The Light Bar in Shoreditch for the Berkmann W**e Cellars Indies’ Showcase.
We found plenty we liked - and a few have already made it onto our shelves and into our latest tastings.
9-13: We hosted our annual Bordeaux Tasting last week as part of **emonth and the w**es went down very well. Our ‘15% off any 6 bottles of Bordeaux’ offer runs until the end of the month so come down and grab a bargain!
14-17: On Tuesday afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Unico Zelo | Australian W**e w**emaker, Brendan Carter to BB and taste through some of his w**es with him. Look out for a couple of Unico Zelo w**es hitting the Specials Board in the next few days plus a delicious barrel-aged Fiano joining the rest of the Unico Zelo range on our shelves.
18-20: Tuesday night was our ‘Would I Lie to You?’ tasting and Brendan’s visit earlier that day gave us the perfect twist. We poured his ‘Pollen’ Gewürztraminer and told guests its w**emaker had been at BB that very day. The catch? We’d said exactly the same thing about the previous w**e. 🤣
Thank you to Brendan for recording the video evidence of his visit and thanks to our guests for helping to make it such a fun evening.

Sending all our best wishes to these four as they head off on their uni adventures!
Joe has been with us for two years although it feels like much longer - probably because he practically ran the place during his gap year before heading off travelling. He’s been such an important part of the BB team and we’ll really miss him. He’s now off to Manchester to study Management & Marketing. Have a blast, Joe - there’ll always be a job and/or a glass of w**e waiting for you here! 🍷
Will has been with us for over 18 months while studying for his A Levels, always bringing plenty of enthusiasm and positivity to the team. He’s now off to study Sports Science in Liverpool. Thanks for everything, Will. Have a great time - we will look forward to hearing all about it when you’re next home.
Cara joined the team earlier in the summer but it feels like she’s been part of the wider BB family for longer, having performed music in the bar previously as well as having been our brilliant babysitter. A talented musician, Cara is off to study Music at Durham and we’re excited to see where that will take her.
Euan also only joined us earlier this summer after finishing his A Levels but has been a really great addition to the team, bringing lots of professionalism and positivity. He’s off to study Physiotherapy in Manchester. We wish him all the best with that and with his continuing athletics career.
Good luck to all four of you - enjoy every minute! ❤️ And thank you for everything - we’d have you all back anytime!
