Lets have a little nosey at The Kitchin in Leith, Edinburgh. 🍾

A Michelin-starred restaurant, a former wh**ky bonded warehouse, and a kitchen where Scotland's finest seasonal produce meets classical French cooking. 🥩 🇫🇷 🥣

Tom Kitchin's From Nature to Plate philosophy has been at the heart of the restaurant since it opened in 2007, earning its Michelin star just a year later. 🌟

But we're not here to inspect the menu. Naturally, we went straight for the w**e list! 😝

And what a w**e list it is. 😳🍷📃

Burgundy, Bordeaux, Alsace, Georgia, South Africa… plenty to keep a w**e lover occupied for a while.

As we worked our way through it, something rather familiar kept happening. 🤔

Hang on. We've got that one. And that one. Oh, and that one too! 😁

Turns out, quite a few bottles on The Kitchin's extensive w**e list are also sitting on our shelves here in Oban. Some have even been old friends of ours for years. 🍇

Not bad for The Wee W**e Shop Oban, is it? We may not shout about fine w**es, but they're certainly on our shelves. 🤘

After all, there's nothing quite like discovering that a bottle you know and love has also caught the eye of a fine-dining sommelier.

Same bottles. Very different surroundings.

The cheeses are back 🧀😋

For those who have not yet tried them, they are super creamy and with that touch of wh**ky 🥃

🌿 Four generations of farming, with organic roots dating back to 1974!

🍇 Long before organic w**es became fashionable, this family was already pioneering organic farming in Veneto, sharing their knowledge and encouraging others to follow.

Today, they are Demeter-certified biodynamic producers, with vineyards across the Venetian mainland, Valdobbiadene and Valpolicella, producing everything from Prosecco and Pinot Grigio to Ripasso and Amarone.

🌱 For over 50 years, respect for nature, biodiversity and sustainability has been at the heart of everything they do. Not a passing trend or a marketing exercise, but a philosophy they've followed since the 1970s.

🍻 Good b**r, good roots and a few more trees along the way! 🌳

Black Isle Brewery has been brewing organic b**r in the Scottish Highlands since 1998, and they're doing a bit more than just making b**r!

🌳 Over 7,000 trees planted on their organic farm, and a third of the profits from Treehouse Pale Ale goes towards rewilding the Highlands.

And here's what's on our shelves:

🍺 Treehouse Pale Ale 🌳 Bursting with citrus and hoppy goodness. B**r that gives something back!

🍫 Organic Porter 🍪 Dark, rich and silky smooth, with chocolate and roasted coffee notes. Vegan-friendly too!

☀️ Helles 🍺 A proper unfiltered German-style l***r. Crisp, refreshing and gluten-free at just 3.4%.

Three very different b**rs from a brewery that cares about more than what's in the glass.

🍷 Shiraz… but not as you know it!

Two Australian Shiraz w**es with a twist! 🇦🇺

🍾 Majella Sparkling Shiraz Yes, red w**e with bubbles! Rich, fruity and traditionally bottle fermented, with 14 months ageing on lees. Best enjoyed chilled!

🍷 d’Arenberg Vintage Fortified Shiraz Rich, velvety and indulgently sweet, bursting with dark fruit flavours. Perfect for sipping after dinner!

🍶 Discover Tamagawa Sake 🇯🇵

Made by Kinosh*ta Brewing Company in Kyoto, a family brewery producing sake since 1842.

Since 2007, Tamagawa has been brewed under Philip Harper, the first non-Japanese tōji (master brewer) in Japan.

These are not shy, delicate sakes! Tamagawa is known for bold flavours, character and versatility.

🌳 Heart of Oak – rich, dry and full-flavoured, with toasty, nutty notes, wild berries and plenty of savoury umami. Delicious chilled, at room temperature or warmed.

🐧🧊 Ice Breaker – look for the penguin! An unpasteurised nama sake with a fresh, lively character and a touch of spice. Try it well chilled or, as the name suggests, over ice - as the ice slowly melts, the sake changes in the glass.

🍶 Tamagawa sake can be enjoyed at a surprisingly wide range of temperatures, making it a completely different experience from bottle to bottle - and even glass to glass.

Well… that didn’t quite go to plan. 🤧

As some of you knew, we were away for a week in France. We came back with the usual holiday memories, and an apparently rather nasty bug as an unwanted souvenir.

Unfortunately, we’re both pretty unwell and need a little time to recover, so the shop will remain CLOSED for now until Tuesday.

We’ll keep you updated and reopen as soon as we’re fit enough to be back behind the counter.

🌋 GIN FROM A VOLCANO. Yes, really. 🌋

Meet Igneous West Highland Dry Gin, distilled on the wild Ardnamurchan peninsula, right in the crater of an ancient extinct volcano. 🔥🏔️

💧 Made using Scottish water naturally filtered through volcanic rock
🌿 Juniper-forward, with floral heather
🍋 Zesty lemon peel
🍒 Fruity rowan berries
🏺 And then there’s the bottle, each ceramic stoneware bottle is made in their own studio, so no two are exactly alike.

Clean, crisp and unmistakably West Highland. And that bottle certainly isn’t getting thrown in the recycling. 😍

🥃 THE INAUGURAL RELEASE — JACKTON SINGLE MALT BATCH NO. 1

The first Single Malt from Jackton Distillery has arrived and is now available to pre-buy, with bottles available for collection from Thursday 4 September 2026

🥃 Only 6,000 bottles released!!

Distilled, matured and bottled entirely at Jackton Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, Batch No. 1 marks the beginning of their Single Malt story.

Bottled at 48.7% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, it brings together Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado and Oloroso casks.

Expect rich dried and dark fruits, fig and sultana, followed by treacle, roasted nuts, toffee, sweet spice and soft oak. 🥜🍇

A proper first chapter from one of Scotland's newer distilleries and with just 6,000 bottles released, Batch No. 1 won't be repeated.
