Go Naked Veg – A Final, Heartfelt Goodbye
After seven years of building, fighting, hoping, and giving everything we had, it’s time for us to say a very difficult goodbye to Go Naked Veg.
We began this journey just before the first lockdown, at a time when the world felt uncertain and people needed support more than ever. What started as a simple home‑delivery service quickly grew into something bigger than we ever imagined. We moved from our living room into a larger unit, and eventually took the leap into a full retail premises. Every step was driven by passion, belief, and the hope that an independent, organic, plastic‑free veg business could thrive in our community.
For three years we poured ourselves into the shop. We tried new ideas, expanded our offering, worked long days and longer nights, and did everything we could to make Go Naked Veg a place people loved. But the reality of independent retail today is harsh. Costs rose, footfall dropped, and despite our best efforts, the numbers simply never reached the level needed to sustain the business.
In one final attempt to save what we had built, we pushed harder than ever. We tried every angle, every idea, every possible way to keep the doors open. But sometimes, no matter how much heart you put in, the world doesn’t give you the conditions you need to survive. And so, with enormous regret, we have made the decision to close Go Naked Veg.
Our last full day of shop trading will be the 3rd of October. After that date, we will continue to offer a very small selection of essentials — milk, eggs, and local meats — for as long as we are able. We can’t guarantee set opening hours; it will simply be a case of if the gates are open, someone is around. This small offering is our way of keeping a tiny piece of Go Naked Veg alive while we wind things down.
Unfortunately, this decision will also affect our subscription customers. We know this news will be a disappointment, especially for those who have recently joined us. We will include clear information in your next order explaining what will happen with your subscription and when deliveries will come to an end. Please look out for the note included with your upcoming box.
To the loyal customers who stood by us — thank you. You were the bright moments in this journey. You supported us, encouraged us, and believed in what we were trying to do. We are truly sorry to bring you this news, and we hope you know how much your kindness and loyalty meant. We never wanted to reach this point, but there simply weren’t enough of you to keep the business alive.
This decision has not come lightly. Running Go Naked Veg has taken a huge toll on our mental health, our family life, and every part of our day‑to‑day world. It has been a constant battle, and the emotional weight of carrying the business for so long has been immense. As heartbreaking as it is to let go, it is the right decision for our wellbeing and our future.
Go Naked Veg was built with love, purpose, and belief. It stood for sustainability, honesty, and doing things the right way. It mattered. And even though we are closing our doors, the values behind it will stay with us forever.
