Oban Bay Brewery

Oban Bay Brewery We first brewed in June 2009 after acquiring the 5 barrel plant from the Isle of Mull Brewery in Tobermory, Mull. They started brewing in May of that year.

The Oban Bay Brewery, named aptly for its location, is tucked away in a purpose built area at the rear of the Cuan Mor Restaurant & Bar which overlooks the dramatic Oban bay. The brewing equipment was designed and built for the Isle of Mull Brewing Company in 2005 by George Thompson of Brewing Solutions. George was the production manager for the Belhaven Brewery and continues to be involved with t

he Oban Bay Brewery as our Consultant Brewer. Managing the production of our cask ales is Harry Forbes, who took up this post in July 2010 after previously working for Caledonian MacBrayne. Following a merger of The Isle of Mull Brewing Company with the Oban Bay Brewery in late 2010 a new company, Argyll Breweries Limited, was formed with its main office in Tobermory. Argyll Breweries still trades as Isle of Mull and Oban Bay. Production of the cask ales is currently only at the Oban site, however, it is hoped that production will start again in Tobermory in the near future.

General information

Our beers include Kiltlifter IPA, Skelpt Lug Dark Ale, Ginger Jakey Amber Ale, Skinny Blonde Ale and Fair Puggled Stout. We brew all our beers from 100% natural ingredients and take great pride in both the taste and quality of our beers. We started out with a goal of producing beers that everyone could enjoy, not just the sophisticated real ale drinkers, and we think we achieved it.
