Support local farmers and learn how to work with wool in its raw state. We offer wool workshops which are great for learning the basics ready for shearing time in a few months!! Workshops are run at our farm on the edge of Dartmoor near Okehampton / Tavistock

The lambs are loving the sunshine and already we’re seeing some beautiful fleeces emerging. If you would like to learn more about what we look for in a good fleece and how to process it from washed to carded and make amazing things out of it then why not come along to one of our woolly workshops. Fun and full of amazing information about 🐑 sheep 🐑 and their wonderful wool, we currently offer two different workshops.

What’s behind our name…….?
Melken is our prefix name for our pedigree Jacob flock and also my tennis coaching business. The name Melken is made up of the first three letters of my mum and dad’s names, Melanie and Ken, who are sadly no longer with me but their memory lives on through our sheep. “The Woolly Wagon” is our shepherd’s hut where we run all our wool workshops from and got its name because a little woolly sheep took up residence under it as we were building it!! The woolly wagon looks out across our farm and out to Dartmoor and is the hub of our wool business. For me working with wool is so much more than what I make or how I make it, for me it’s knowing which sheep produced the wool I used. So why not come and meet our wonderful woolly friends and learn all about wool.
